SM: Giana Erminio defender undergoing medical ahead of joining Milan Futuro

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not just working on additions for the first team because they are also planning to give the Milan Futuro project some early momentum.

On their official website, the club recently announced that they have formally received – following the decisions made by the Federal Council of the FIGC – approval for the registration of a B-team in the next Serie C season.

Daniele Bonera will be the head coach, and while some of the stars of the Primavera side will be promoted up there is also the need to bring in some additional experience given that a very young team will now be playing against adults.

As our journalist Luca Maninetti reported this morning, Gabriele Minotti is currently undergoing a medical with Milan and he will join the U23 team from Giana Erminio.

The centre-back played 41 times across all competitions last season and he used to be part of Monza’s youth system. He had a contract with Giana Erminio until 2025, so there will be a fee involved.

There has already been quite a lot of movement on the signings front concerning Milan Futuro, with 27-year-old striker Mbarick Fall having arrived in the city yesterday to also undergo a medical.

  1. “AC Milan are not just working on additions for the first team”

“AC Milan are not working on additions for the first team” should be the right sentence. Three recruits so far, this guy, Jimenez and the 27 yo no name, all for the U23 team. And Paulo Fonseca hired to develop young players. The message is loud and clear.

    1. No it isn’t loud and clear but there actually was a recent article that made it clear that the u23 team has some rules in regard of having a certain amount of players above 23 so thats one of the reasons why they for example are buying that fall guy at 27. If i remember correctly the u23 team can also only field 6 players below 21 so we simply needs to add some players that wont have the slightest interest of the fans.

      1. They didn’t take care of anything regarding the first team. They’re monitoring, waiting, remaining calm, whatever. All the moves since last summer clearly evidence that the focus is on young players.

Promoting Moncada for instance, while his only notable experience is scouting players, for Monaco that has a policy of developing young players to resell them or for us when our goal was to get out of the banter era by developing young players. Also hiring Paulo Fonseca to work with youngsters.

Milan became Milan again, with that scudetto, UCL run, world class players in the roster but the management curiously decided to slow down rather than building on that resurgence. It’s a clear evidence of where the priorities are. Obviously since developing young players to eventually sell them later is cheap and sustainable. The priority is not to win with the first team. At least not until Milan has a stadium and repaid the loan for its costs, likely in more than ten years from now. I hope nothing will happen to me until then since I would like to enjoy some good moments with that jersey haha these days it’s only deceptions…

        1. For what we all know they might present some players directly after players return back from vacation after the euros. Why would people actually expect us tomake statements about signings if they actually still participates in for example the euros ?

I don’t see the connection with the already established discussion and you VERY WELL know that I was against and still is against sacking Maldini but still if anything last years mercato clearly showed we could operate fine and more swiftly in the market compared to previously. Milan doesnt make statements about who we will sign and why would we as it could cause issues for us,

Just speculation as I’m fairly confident that the ownership wants to become as successful as possible after investing large sums of money into the club its in their own interest to succeed. Whether we like how they does is a different matter but they are not just pouring cash into the club to p1ss it away either..

  2. Can the youth players who play in the normal tournament and uefa youth league keep switching between fortuna Milan and there normal competition or how does it work?

    1. They can to my understanding but there is limitations in how many we can field at the same time and also one of the reasons why we are are also looking at older players for the squad but if you check my first post at the top there is a link to a different SempreMilan article that clarifies the rules of the Futuro u23 team.
