SM: Leao and Calabria forced off during Lecce game – the latest on their condition

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s injury problems might just have got substantially worse as Stefano Pioli needed to bring off two players during the 2-2 draw against Lecce this afternoon.

Milan suffered another big blow to their title hopes against Lecce on Saturday afternoon as they threw away a commanding 2-0 half-time lead to draw at the Stadio Via del Mare.

There was a worrying moment for Milan inside the ninth minute when Rafael Leao pulled up instead of chasing a through ball clutching his muscle and he was forced off, with Noah Okafor taking his place.

Then, Davide Calabria was taken off at half-time and replaced by Yunus Musah in a substitution that certainly didn’t suggest being tactical choice.

According to what we have learned, Leao was taken off due to a right flexor strain and Calabria had left flexor fatigue. Both will have checks before responding (or not) to the call-up of their respective national teams.

  1. Pioli is being treated in much the same way as Ferrari, effusive praise when he wins followed by condemnation if does not. It’s time to back the coach, he didn’t forget how to coach since the PSG game. There’s too much reactionary comment after games instead of support, let the team and the coach relax in the support of the rossoneri and get on with it.
