SM: Milan aiming to secure Betis midfielder in €10m cut-price deal

By Isak Möller -

Due to Tommaso Pobega’s injury, as well as Rade Krunic’s imminent departure, AC Milan are set to bring in at least one midfielder in January. Guido Rodriguez has ended up on their wish list and could arrive in a cut-price deal.

Pobega sustained an injury in the game against Monza and will be out of action for four months, following surgery. Krunic is also expected to depart the club, having not featured in the last five games, and Milan thus need to reinforce the squad.

As highlighted by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Guido Rodriguez is one of the top names on Milan’s wish list for the midfield. The Real Betis man could arrive in a cut-price deal worth around €10m, seeing as his contract with the Spanish side will expire in the summer.

A majority of the deal, therefore, would be funded by the departure of Krunic. Both Fenerbahce and Lyon have expressed an interest in the latter, with Milan asking for €5-7m to part ways with the Bosnian next month.

It should also be noted that Ismael Bennacer is expected to take part in the AFCONs with Algeria, which will start in January. A midfield signing is thus almost a necessity for the Rossoneri.

  1. Finally we get a proper DM not Krunic. I would have preferred Al Musrati or Youssouf Fofana but Rodriguez seems to be pretty good too

  2. Does anyone know if Sofyan Amrabat will be excluded from primary MU team? Many of his fans in italy want him last season. But dunno about next winter mercato if he’s available to be signed by some clubs.

    1. Yes hopefully at a cut price ..He might be ok as a standby..Is he injury prone .
If only we could get less injuries,we would be a top team .

  3. this is not just because of pobega’s injury or krunic departure, this is the proof that they made hard fail with not signing the real DM and that we need one, completely failed with projected tactic of 433, someone should suffer the consequences for it

  4. A big mistake was made by the “magicians of the algorithm” last summer when they let a player as good as Hjulmand from Lecce slip away for Sporting. Young, very talented, with solid character, leadership qualities, adapted to the Italian style of football. It’s a shame that these “algorithm magicians” who handled transfers last summer didn’t do their best to bring Hjulmand to Milan. Or at least Nicolas Dominguez who was at Bologna and went to the Premier League. Both could be brought on sums
of reasonable money and they would solve this problem we have in the middle of the field.
