SM: Milan decide to sack Giampaolo – first choice replacement revealed

AC Milan have decided to sack Marco Giampaolo as head coach, with one man in pole to replace him, we have learned.

The Rossoneri lost four of their first six league games to start the season, something they hadn’t done for over 80 years.

Although the team managed to snap a three-game losing run against Genoa on Saturday the performance did not convince, as Pepe Reina was required to make a penalty save in injury time to preserve the 2-1 scoreline.

Il Corriere della Sera on Monday reported that the chances of Giampaolo getting sacked are ‘very high’, and now our correspondent Vito Angele has told us that the club has indeed decided to dismiss him.

He also revealed that Spalletti is indeed the first choice to replace him, though it will not be easy due to his contractual situation as he has a deal with Inter until 2021.

If he does not arrive, then the alternatives are Rudi Garcia, Stefano Pioli and Claudio Ranieri – all of whom have managerial experience in Serie A.
