SM: Milan continue probing free transfer market – Leicester and Roma duo targeted

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have seemingly already wrapped up two free transfers ahead of the summer window, and they are not stopping there with two more probed.

It seems as though Marco Sportiello and Daichi Kamada will be Milan’s first two signings of the summer, joining from Atalanta and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

However, according to what our colleagues at SempreMilan.it have learned, Milan are continuing to probe the upcoming free agent market in a bid to secure reinforcements for the squad with minimal outlay.

Return of Il Faraone?

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have enquired about the potential return of Stephan El Shaarawy, who was with the Rossoneri from 2011 to 2015 and has played with Monaco and Roma since.

They learned that the 30-year-old winger – who could be a deputy to Rafael Leao – has given priority to Roma, but would be thrilled to be able to play for Milan again.

Cover for Bennacer

In the last few hours however, another suggestion has come forward in Youri Tielemans. Leicester have officially ended negotiations over the renewal of the Belgian midfielder having been relegated to the Championship.

Having amassed 4 goals and 2 assists in the 37 games played this season, Tielemans is a versatile midfielder capable of playing in all midfield roles, meaning he could be perfect cover for Ismael Bennacer who will be out until December.

Tielemans receives a salary of €3m net per season at Leicester, a figure that Milan could easily match or perhaps even raise, but there are several clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old which could drive his demands up.

  1. Did anyone see Sevilla shi***g themselves when El Shaarawy started warming up last night? And then when he came on he was just electric!

Why everyone wants this benchwarmer is beyond me…

  2. Personally i wouldnt mind us signing el shaarawy on a free transfer as a substitute for leao.
In the event it happens it should be a fairly short contract like for example 2 or 3 years duration and then we should renew traores contract long term and loan him out on the same formula as we did with colombo with a low buy clause and a low buyback clause to a relegation candidate so their sentiment of playing him increases and the player can further develope.

Tieleman is a no brainer and if we can get him we certainly should do so in my view.

  3. It is beeter to Youri Selmans for Free
Not spend Loftus Cheek for even one milyan.
Nious Dominguez of Bologna is underrated Player he much better than Enzo Herndez and all of Milan alinked Midfied Players except SMS of Lazio.
I would Give milan for free advice from my heart to sign Nious Dominguez and Straveza of Lecce ,the No 27.
The Role of no 10 is N Zaniola

    1. Youri Tielemans with a signing bonus and agent fees is better than Loftus. It gives us more manoeuvring space and I think he will be better for us long term as well. We need to pounce and go in for the catch. These are not options we can afford to pass up. Secure him quick, get him on board for our summer tour to build some chemistry with new teammates.

  4. Sell:
Rebić 10 mil + salary money
    Origi 10 mil + 4m salary money
Messias 7 mil + salary money
Kjaer 6 mil + salary money

Total 33 mil + salary saving money

    End loan:
    Vranckx – salary money
    Brahim – salary money
    Bakayoko – salary money

Ibra will probably go for free to Monza

    Buy:
Tielemans free – 4.5 mil salary (CM)
SMS / Frattesi 30 mil (only one of them) (CM)
Mitoma 25 mil (LW – can play RW)
Zaniolo / Berardi (only one of them – both can play RW or AM)
Firmino – free – salary? (AM or striker)
    Retegui – 30 mil (striker)
Parisi – ? (Can play LB or RB)
    Baldanzi -? (Talented AM )

With the money from selling players + about 85 mil from Cardinale..this should be easy to achieve.
(Btw Milan made much more revenue from UCL + qualifying to UCL next year…)

    1. That’s a whole lot of football manager. No way, we’re getting 33 million for those four. Origi is probably going to go for 2-3 million at best.

Also, why would we sign all those players when we already have a basis? LOL. I’m all for Tielemans and Firmino, but we don’t need all those players.

  5. Nobody will pay 7M for Messias. (Or Kjaer). Anyhow, i keep arguing why just end Diaz’s loan. We can call Madrid’s bluff. Pay they 20M — apparently they want him so bad and can sell him for so much — they will buy him back for 25 or so.. Easy, 5M Profit

    1. Nowdays where most players are overpriced I think that 6 mil for Kjaer or 6-7 for Messias are totally real.

In my opinion, Milan won’t do anything that would destroy the good relationship that we have with Real Madrid as it is crucial for Milan to have such a relationship for the future.
