SM: Milan begin talks over potential late move for Fiorentina striker

AC Milan have begun contacts over a potential last-minute swoop for Luka Jovic having hit a wall in their pursuit of Rafa Mir, we have learned.

It has been a rollercoaster 24 hours for Milan who have gone from having a deal wrapped up for Mehdi Taremi and then Patson Daka to trying to get Mir in from Sevilla, and they have even hit a roadblock in those talks too.

According to what is being reported by our colleague Luca Maninetti of SempreMilan.it, the Mir track has now become ‘very complicated’ because Sevilla have been unable to find a replacement for the Spaniard.

As a result, talks have begun to examine the possibility of getting a deal for Jovic done before the window closes in two hours (at the time of writing).

The Serbian striker is no longer part of Vincenze Italiano’s plans at Fiorentina and thus could arrive via an advantageous formula.

      1. I will rate it 9.5/10. My only issue is that we don’t have a proper DM. I said that because I tweeted about it after the Musah deal that we will end up with Jovic, lol. I also rate him higher than every other player we were linked with after Bologun.

    1. Of all those they only send an offical offer for Terami
There were talks with Thuram but he already had a deal with Inter, porbs just used Milan to get a pay raise

      1. You know what, I still believe we would have got Elye Wahi for less than 25M if we have started negotiating from the start instead of that backstabber Thuram.

  1. Now we just have to admit that we are stuck with Giroud and Origi as our ST until January. Giroud Im ok with, but given his age and amount of hard matches(roma, inter, and our CL matches being played inbetween Lazio, Atalanta and Juve games) im scared that he could get injured and then we are screwd.

  2. This guy really is the last resort. Fiorentina are practically begging us to take him. At this point, Milan might as well give Origi another go! He’s got some pedigree, even if he wasn’t great last season…

    1. Did you see the tweet by Romano? There is no loan fee in this deal, so there must be some issues with him behind the scenes. I really miss Ibra at times like this. He would be able to put this guy on leash, haha.

    2. My thoughts exactly. I would rather just go with Origi instead of Jovic. This guy rejected us repeatedly for Real Madrid and Fiorentina.

Apart from that, he is definitely not an upgrade for Origi. In fact, he is worse.

I am extremely disappointed that we wasted time on a 31yr old overpriced Taremi instead of making our move for Patson Daka or Rafa Mir who in my opinion are a better fit.

Over all I think we had a fairly good mercato and at least this wasn’t a loan with option or obligation for Jovic. Smh

      1. There is another thing. Origi was at Milan for a season. Whatever anyone thinks it means a lot, to adapt to a new country, town and club for a season…Anyway, let’s see if this new deadwood can be better than Origi…

  3. I’m so happy. Instead of getting stuck with dead weight like Miri, or daka. Avoiding taremi who isn’t getting younger,we get Jovic on a simple dry loan. He wasn’t bad at fiorentina and at least better than every name we’ve been looking for in the last 5 hours…he knows serie a and end of the year if he does well we bid for him and if not we can finally get a strong striker! Every striker was always going to be a back up to giroud so better we wait.

  4. He is mentally unstable and thinks he is Ronaldo while not being better than Origi. I wouldn’t bring him into the team if they paid 20M.

  5. OMG! How the bench in Milan is going to reignite the talent in this man is beyond me. Sorry guys, but this was a serious downer.

    1. Well Furlani said that the fans will be surprised. He definitely surprised me with Jovic…You know how good you are when Real Madrid has to give you away for free….
