SM: Rangnick’s future is as Rossoneri manager – How Gazidis proposed him to Elliott

By Vito Angele -

The more the days pass the more Ralf Rangnick’s future turns red and black. It was March 8 when, as SempreMilan.com announced, the definitive choice of Elliott Management was made.

It was a choice strongly desired by Ivan Gazidis. According to the information we received, the reason behind this choice was a discontent from the former Arsenal manager towards the managers of the last few years. Especially in the handling of the transfer market, which saw purchases like Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain arrive and fail.

Gazidis and the report sent to Elliott

First Leonardo and Maldini, then Boban, Maldini and Massara: Ivan Gazidis drew up a document/report last October and sent it to those at the top of Elliott.

From the choice of Giampaolo to the more than €250million invested in two years without results. From Paqueta to Piatek: these were among the many wrong choices of the current and old management highlighted by Ivan Gazidis.

That’s why the South African executive has changed the cards on the table by proposing a different profile to the ownership, that of Rangnick, accepted immediately by Elliott after a cognitive dialogue between the parties.

Rangnick the new boss

Although the idea of seeing Rangnick behind the desk has not been hidden, it will not be like this: according to what we have learned SempreMilan.com, in the latest dialogues with Gazidis, only one hypothesis has been put forward: that of a manager role.

Rangnick, unless there are sensational twists, will be the new Rossoneri manager with absolute power on the transfer market. The market team will be able to offer up players, but it will be Rangnick who will decide and above all advise the profiles to them.

The German technician is already at work in a full immersion course in Italian, this now certifies that the deal is totally concluded. Now only the official announcement is missing, then Rangnick will be the new manager of Milan, at least until June 2023. For him there is talk of a three-year contract.

Objectives on the market

Speaking of the market, Rangnick has already given a clear input: Dominik Szoboszlai is a concrete objective and Milan have already started contacts with Red Bull Salzburg.

What about Zlatan Ibrahimovic? At the moment there have been no contacts with the management, if Rangnick wants Ibrahimovic to remain then he will inform him personally. From the entourage of the Swede they expect concrete signals: Ibra wants to play another year at Milan. It will be up to Rangnick to decide.
