Source claims Maldini has blocked swap deal with Roma involving Suso and €50m man

Paolo Maldini has blocked a potential swap deal between AC Milan and Roma involving Suso and Cengiz Under, according to one source.

Suso’s future with the Rossoneri continues to be the subject of speculation as the Spaniard is struggling for form. So far in 2019-20 he has amassed just a goal and two assists, and put in arguably his worst performance of the season in Monday’s 0-0 draw with Sampdoria.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Thursday that the 26-year-old’s future at the San Siro is far from certain, and the same outlet suggested that Roma are interested in acquiring him and that a swap deal involving winger Cengiz Under could be a possibility.

However, Sportitalia’s Alessandro Jacobone has provided an update on his Twitter profile by claiming that all was agreed regarding a Suso-Under swap deal.

Mino Raiola and Ramadani (Under’s representative) had sorted their side of the exchange, while the deal had the approval of the Giallorossi. What has derailed the negotiation is Paolo Maldini’s preference to sign Inter winger Matteo Politano instead, Jacobone adds.

This season, Politano has failed to register a goal or assist in 14 appearances in all competitions, while the Turkey international has just one goal in 11 games.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reported that Under has a €50m valuation, with interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs.
