SPAL 2-0 Milan Futuro (2-1 agg): Rossoneri relegated to Serie D

AC Milan Futuro have added to a depressing season this evening, being relegated from Serie C after a 2-0 defeat to SPAL.

It has been a dire season for Milan, and this evening, the youngsters have been unable to avoid relegation to Serie D, making things a little worse.

Coming into this game with a 1-0 lead, the Rossoneri needed to avoid defeat here, considering the higher placed team would stay up if the game finished level. Unfortunately, there was quite a negative feeling from the off.

Milan struggled to get into the game and were rather shy in the opening 15 minutes. Rather than growing into the game though, they only fell off and SPAL scored their first of the evening 20 minutes in after a quick counter attack.

It continued this way, with the Diavolo failing to get back into the game, and they were punished again in the 37th minute, with the hosts grabbing their second of the game and effectively putting the game to bed.

The second half was filled with half chances, with Milan probably a bit too desperate for a goal, resorting to long shots early in the half. A sign of their inexperience, probably, and they could not get back into the game.

Considering the project had high hopes when created last year, it is a terrible start. However, things can only, surely, get better from this point onwards… In the meantime, you have to question where the best talents will go.

  1. Get this: Camarda was called up so many times to the first team (while rarely playing) that he was short of the number of Serie C games he’d need to be eligible to play in this playout. So, when his goals were most needed, he couldn’t play. Great job, managers!

And inaction and delay have consequences. They took so long to fire Bonera that Futuro could not recover.

We could have comfortably survived in Serie C, but our managers are so stupid and incompetent that we managed to damage Futuro too and get them relegated. It all started with Ibra interfering with Abate.

    1. This! Oddo has the boys climbing the table but it was too little too late. Yes Oddo, an actual coach with coaching credentials…unlike Bonerror.
That’s atrocious management by the club watching their 15m+ investment go down the drain and did little. We had resources superior to most if not all the clubs in our Serie C group. They did not fully assess what was required for success in Serie C (age of players, experience, personnel/coaching experience) as they don’t have football people in management.

      1. Agree with both of you. With the money Milan had invested in the team, they REALLY should have done way better. It just shows how incompetent the management really is. Couldn’t even fire that awful Bonera in time.

  2. Well of course we did, because we love a saga don’t we. This isn’t over, we now just have to endure a summer of “will we/wont we” articles about various permutations for buying our way back in or getting a reprieve.

It will be a welcome break from articles about low-balling Torino for Ricci I suppose.

  3. It’s almost like getting rid of Abate and hiring a no proven record choice from Zlatan was always gonna be a TERRIBLE IDEA. Literally everyone and their mom knew this was gonna fail, but even we didn’t expect it to be this bad… complete and utter failure all around from cardinales circus this year

  4. The problem at Ac milan is that there way too many chefs in the kitchen and might i add too many unqualified chefs..

    1. I’m not even kidding when I say he couldn’t possibly do a worse job as the president as our current one. Even a dead squirrel would be better than Scaroni.

  5. Management think that Serie C is just easy like walk in the park. Their disrespect to the lower league is real, by putting incompetent manager(bonera), and confusing the future star (camarda) by make him bench warmer in senior, rather than play regularly in lower league, and also buying an incompetent over age player

  6. I’m just waiting for the end of season to see what Gerry does. In one year all his claimed success and plans flushed down the drain.

If he sells star players to plug his deficit, he has less chances of generating income and finishing top 4 next season, plus losing revenue from interested fan supports. This is not factoring if we still have worthy players willing to stay.

Hehehe. Welcome to the real football business dummy.

  7. Problem with the new leadership is they don’t understand the work and effort put in to get us to where we where. In wanting to do it their way they have turned it the wrong way around. If it aint broke dont fix it !
