SPAL president full of praise for Milan loanee: “He will be the top scorer in Serie B”

The president of SPAL has thanked Ricky Massara for letting them have Lorenzo Colombo on loan, adding that he thinks the striker will finish as top scorer in Serie B.

Colombo was sent out on loan to the second flight to get some crucial senior minutes to help his development and he has so far netted four times in nine league games for the Ferrera-based club. Now, SPAL’s president Joe Tacopina has given his thoughts on Colombo during an interview with Sky Italia and he was full of praise for the teenager, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan and transcribed below.

“He is only 19 years old. To get him I called my friend Frederic Massara at Milan and he did me a great favour. Everyone wanted Lorenzo, he and the coach are working very well on his mentality,” he said.

“Having signed only him at 19 years old, the journalists told me that we needed a more experienced striker. I replied: ‘Wait, he will be the top scorer in Serie B’. And he is already proving to be…”

Milan meanwhile continue to be linked with a number of young strikers such as Lorenzo Lucca – who is currently the top scorer in Serie B – as well as other profiles like Andrea Belotti and Darwin Nunez. Colombo’s exploits certainly serve as a reminder of what the team have in their control currently.
