Spalletti confirms he rejected Milan and reveals Inter-related reasons why

Luciano Spalletti now is the head coach of the Italian National side, but he could have formerly had a job at AC Milan, and he reminisced on that today.

It is not really a surprise that Milan have been linked with Spalletti previously, considering he has been one of Italy’s better coaches in recent years, and with the Rossoneri now wanting to head back in an Italian direction, perhaps in the far future there could be a revival of the rumours.

Nevertheless, Spalletti spoke about how the Diavolo had approached him in October of 2019, and how he turned them down in his autobiography ‘Paradise exists… but how much effort’ and Milan Press have relayed his words.

“My no to Milan was a painful decision, not easy to make. I didn’t feel like going to Milan so as not to offend my old Inter management and so as not to offend the Inter fans.”

Considering Milan then went to look at Stefano Pioli after being turned down, it certainly was not a bad thing. However, the Italian coach also won the Scudetto with Napoli, so who knows what could have been.

  1. The same Inter management that fired him for Conte despite getting them UCL football and leaving a Roma team that was in the UCL, he sounds a little too loyal to me

  2. And now we know that Spalletti will never come, so that’s one name less to speculate about in the future.

  3. It’s a lie….Milan didn’t want to pay him what he was receiving at inter. Preferred to stay home and be collecting 4.5m€.

    1. Yep. Spalletti conveniently left that part out. It was all about the money they offered him or rather didn’t offer him.
