Spalletti accuses Maldini of being ‘disrespectful’ during half-time row

By Oliver Fisher -

There was a flashpoint during AC Milan’s 4-0 win over Napoli last night as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara exchanged words.

As the teams were about to come out for the second half the DAZN cameras caught Spalletti and Maldini exchanging words, with the Napoli boss having been irritated by something that the Milan director did.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) have recalled the comments of Spalletti after the game in which he gave his take on the incident, accusing Maldini of being ‘disrespectful’ during the exchange.

“I was asking the referee why Lobotka was booked, given that it seemed to me a normal foul in the game. Maldini suddenly came in and didn’t allow me to finish the speech by waving his arms around,” he said.

“It was disrespectful towards me. I didn’t like the fact that he spoke above me at all. I didn’t have anything to say about Leao, on the contrary he invited me to let it go.”

Napoli were outplayed from start to finish as Rafael Leao ended his goal drought with a brace in which both goals were lovely finishes, while Brahim Diaz got the second on the night and Alexis Saelemaekers got his first league goal of the campaign in the second half.

Spalletti also analysed Napoli’s defeat: “It started badly, we gave away balls that we usually control easily. We weren’t good at playing with the usual quality of play. We’re not used to playing two goals down.

“We tried to recover leaving too many spaces that they were good at exploiting. Milan put in a great performance, starting strong and taking advantage of all the situations we gave them. We played below our level.”

  1. Please remember the EMPOLI DAMAGE TO MILAN BEFORE UCL AGAINST CHELSEA,. PLEASE LET’S CDK START AGAINST EMPOLI. We need the match against NAPOLI, PLEASE

  2. Spalletti’s words sum-up everything: ” We gave away balls😃😃😃… Ok so it’s basically like saying we have NO balls 🤣🤣🤣 how do we play when our players have no balls, otherwise “feared Milan players”

  3. We need to play our second team in our next match. Our boys need no injury at this point. The need to rest. Please play Tata, Tore, Gabbia, Thiaw, Florensi, Baka pobega, Yatsin, CDk, Rebic, Origi.

    1. Are you playing Football manager right now?lol

Serie A is as important as Champions league at this point, if not even more important , since we still at risk of losing 4th place.

The only way to qualify to CL next year is from 4th place in Serie A or Winning Champions League. I am one of the more optimistic Milan fans, but I have to admit our chance to win CL is low. So until we secure 4th place finish, we cant rotate too much in Serie A as that would weaken us too much.

  4. Signor Spalletti:

“Losers always whine about doing their best. Winners go home and fucckk the prom queen.”
