TMW: Spanish side leading the race to sign Milan attacking target

By Euan Burns -

Spanish side Atletico Madrid appear to be winning the race to sign Mateo Retegui from Boca Juniors in the summer despite the interest of AC Milan, a report claims.

As has been reported by Tuttomercatoweb (via Milan News), the La Liga team are willing to offer the most at this stage in regard to transfer fee and wages which naturally puts them at a head start.

Milan are very interested in adding the Italy striker to the squad but there is also competition from Inter and Leeds United, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany who will soon need to replace Randal Kolo Muani.

Retegui currently plays for Tigre right now on loan from Boca Juniors and at the end of the season, they will buy him for €2.1 million but they are only receiving 50% ownership of him.

It us an unusual situation but both clubs are aware that he is destined to move to Europe this summer.
