Barcelona are interested in a move for out-of-favour AC Milan defender Mateo Musacchio, according to a report from Spain.
Musacchio has struggled since the start of the calendar year as he has battled injury problems as well as the loss of his place in the starting XI to Simon Kjaer who arrived from Sevilla, leading to suggestions the Spaniard will almost certainly depart when his contract expires in June 2021.
A return to LaLiga has always seemed the most concrete hypothesis, but Spanish publication Sport believe a shock destination could be on the cards as Barcelona have added the former Villarreal man to their wish list.
He is not the only low-cost option they are considering though, as Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi is on their radar along with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Liverpool’s Joel Matip.
Ronald Koeman’s side will also go back in for Man City defender Eric Garcia, although a transfer is considered ‘unlikely’, and in Serie A both Roma’s Federico Fazio and Fiorentina’s Germán Pezzella are also apparently under consideration.
