Palermo sporting director Renzo Castagnini has advised AC Milan to take a look at young Pisa striker Lorenzo Lucca, amid the recent transfer links.
Pisa lead the league in Serie B and Lucca is a huge part of that. His growth has culminated by being called up for the U21 national team and several teams have been monitoring him with great attention for several weeks, aware of how important it is to observe the progress of a striker with such potential.
Calciomercato.com recently reported that Milan – who are always attentive to talented young players – asked the 21-year-old’s entourage for information, but face competition from Juventus in the race to land him.
Castagnini gave an interview to Tuttosport, in which he spoke about the young striker. He was the one who spotted him while he was playing in the Brescia youth teams and brought him to Sicily.
“I’m honest: I always liked him, but when I started seeing him in training I was amazed. That’s why I was not surprised when in the following months he exploded with us in Palermo: he scored 13 goals in 15 games as a starter,” he said (via MilanLive).
“I have always thought that Lucca was a unique player and I am convinced that he will arrive at a big club. I had never seen a 2m tall striker before, but at the same time dynamic, agile and skilled even in the strait. And he has a powerful ‘Batistuta-esque’ shot, but above all he has the right spirit.
“There were many interested clubs, not only Juventus, but Pisa was the only one who strongly wanted Lorenzo. To Giovanni Corrado and to the sporting director Claudio Chiellini we should congratulate: now it seems easy, but they have invested more than 2 million for a Serie C player. For his future? Any top club is fine, but I think he would fit particularly well in Milan’s young project.”
