SportZone: Moncada working ‘very hard’ as midfielder prefers Milan over Roma

Youri Tielemans has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list since the managerial ‘revolution’ earlier in the week. And the negotiations have been moving fast, with things now heating up.

Tieleman’s contract with Leicester, who got relegated to the Championship, will expire at the end of the month and he will certainly leave. Milan, through chief scout Geoffrey Moncada, have expressed their interest and also initiated talks with the player.

According to SportZone, the negotiations are ‘heating up’ as Moncada is working ‘very hard’ on convincing Tielemans. The midfielder prefers the Milan project over Roma and also wants to stay in a big league, ruling out the hopes of Galatasaray.

More updates should arrive in the coming days as Milan are keen on having many of the signings done early. In addition to Tielemans, a decision is also expected from Marcus Thuram, whose contract with Borussia Monchengladbach will expire this month.

  1. Good going. Tielemans, Thurman, Kamada sounds promising. Then we should clear out the deadwood and start competing…good time for Cardinale to show his hand with decent signings

    1. Why is Kamada in the list? It was Maldini who wanted to sign Kamada and yesterday the media claimed Kamada’s deal is paused.

          1. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, as cited by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it, Milan have decided to move ahead with the Kamada negotiation. The attacking midfielder’s contract will expire at the end of the month and he would thus arrive on a free transfer, which the management likes a lot.

  2. Interesting. Milan and Roma have both US owners and the same strategy of signing free agents. Hence they have the same targets. But Roma has Mourinho and no salary cap. And we see with Aouar (reportedly wanted by Milan) and Ndicka that UEL-bound Roma is more attractive to players than UCL-bound Milan. Sad days ahead.

    1. Both Aouar and Ndicka were targets by Milan since last summer.
Both of them were free to negotiate and sign with any club since January.
Both of them are about to get salaries lower than Milan reported “salary cap”.
Did Milan have Maldini prior to January till this past Monday? Yes.
Where was Maldini to attract those players to sign for UCL bound Milan all that time?
Mourinho just has higher pull than both Maldini and Pioli.

    2. OR maybe those negotiations have been going on for months because those were not players Maldini and Massara were going for. We were hearing of Kamada, Arnautovic, and renewing Brahim, etc. Now all that has changed. However, it’s hard to “hijack” a deal last minute because players like to keep their word, and while whatever we’re offering is probably higher than what Roma is offering, it is probably not high enough to get them to go back on their word.

That notwithstanding, I’m not worried about “missing” Ndicka or Aouar, since Kamada (assuming we close) is basically the Aouar position, and a CB signing at this point would seem like a vain luxury considering that’s our least needy department. The priorities after Kamada (AMC) are striker, RW and central midfield.

  3. Then we will bloated squad as dead wood not clear yet we are signing..pioli cannot integrate player & also cannot handle too many player..good luck cardinale

  4. Teilimans signed with ASTON VILLA TODAY…..ahhhh LOL. Like that was surprising!
