Journalist claims Spurs defender is ‘now not a priority’ for Milan

Tottenham defender Emerson Royal is no longer a priority target for AC Milan this summer as there are other areas of the squad that they are prioritising.

As reported by Ben Jacobs on X, the Rossoneri may not come in with an improved offer for the Brazilian defender because there are other areas where the money needs to be used.

That does not mean that he is completely without a chance of joining Milan, but other players will be prioritised over him.

Right now, the midfield and the attack are the areas that Milan are focused on. The pursuit for a player like Youssouf Fofana in midfield and Lazar Samardzic in a more versatile role continue, whilst a striker is also needed with Paulo Fonseca not feeling that Alvaro Morata is enough.

Milan had been pursuing Emerson for much of the summer transfer window, having secured an agreement on personal terms a long time ago.

There was a roughly €10m gap between the two clubs when it came to the valuation of the former Barcelona player, and it seems that gap will be too hard to close as far as Milan are concerned.

If Milan can sign a midfielder and an attacker quickly, the interest could be reignited depending on how much money is left.
