Mirror: Spurs identify struggling Milan forward as ideal replacement for €70m man

Santiago Gimenez’s fate at AC Milan is unknown heading into the summer, but he could be offered a Premier League move.

Gimenez joined Milan in the 2025 winter window from Feyenoord as was expected to be the centre-forward of the future. However, after an up-and-down first few months he really struggled last season, playing injured before undergoing surgery and ending the season with zero league goals.

Spurs to the rescue

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Spurs have identified Gimenez as the man they want to replace Richarlison, the man who cost them around €70m to sign from Everton four years ago.

They believe that Gimenez – who had three good seasons with Feyenoord – can get back to the form he showed in the Netherlands with a more attacking coach in Roberto De Zerbi. An injury-hit campaign limited Gimenez to only 18 appearances in all competitions, with one goal in the cup.

However, the 25-year-old will jet off to play a home World Cup with Mexico and if he were to get back to scoring on the biggest stage, his could convince Spurs even further. The Tottenham bosses ‘are not judging him by one disastrous season in Milan’, the report adds.

They are instead looking at what he did in Rotterdam, where he scored 65 times in 105 appearances after joining from Cruz Azul in his home land. Given Milan paid around €30m for Gimenez 18 months ago, it remains to be seen what valuation they place on him.

  1. If we get a fair offer and he wants to go, sure. But his value is so low right now I’d be tempted to keep or loan him for a bit and see if he has more luck next season. Depends who we can get in and how we want to play too obviously, too many unknowns at the moment.

  2. Give us Richarlison, and they can have Gimenez. His profile suits Italian football much better than English

  3. Yeah lets get rid of the one CF we actually have (no, I’m not counting past it Morata or 18 year old Camarda). Very clever.

  4. Its a tough one. His flopped no doubt but coming back from major injury and club being in bad shape didn’t help. If de zerbi sees potential we should too. Under a new coach ie glasner with a good preseason under his belt he could have a much season. Maybe not as our primary CF but certainly as a viable backup to provide competition.

  5. Straight swap for Richarlison is the only offer we should consider, and then it is still a risk. Only if he is fully recovered.

  6. Please buy him..
Come on, it is obvious Gimenez is not good enough. So slow and heavy. It’s like watching a snail when he moves
