The penultimate day of this 2024 has been anything but quiet for AC Milan, given that they have not only sacked their head coach but also hired his replacement.
The dismissal of Paulo Fonseca was announced this morning after the rumours that emerged before the Roma game last night. The management acted quick to replace him and hired Sergio Conceiçao, who took charge of his first training session this afternoon.
According to Luca Bianchin of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Conceiçao has naturally been allowed to bring his usual staff members with him. He has a supporting cast which was built and tweaked during his seven years with Porto, a spell in which he won 11 trophies in total.
The assistant coach will be Siranama Dembélé, two goalkeeping coaches will be Vedran Runje and Diamantino Figueiredo, the sports scientist will be Eduardo Oliveira, while Fabio Moura and Joao Costa will be additional assistants.
The hope will be that Conceicao and his staff can make a quick impact given that the squad leave for Saudi Arabia tomorrow. It is in the Middle East that they will contest the Supercoppa Italiana, with the semi-final against Juventus on Sunday, the team that his son Francisco Conceicao plays for.
I’ve been clamouring for Acmilan to bring in conceicao before we now brought Fonseca but now we have done all Gud by bringing in conceicao because he has a stronger tactical understand than Fonseca.
Yeah we all were pal
Well if you wanted Conceicao then we’re surely doomed…
The problems Milan is having is due to the players attitude towards every game.
This new coach might not make much difference.
Fonseca was a brilliant coach in terms of selection and strategy. The players were feeling bigger than the club.
Fonseca is a horrible coach. If you can’t motivate the team your tactics are useless. He showed in his career he will never win anything, it was obvious he can’t be a Milan manager.
AS FONSECA IS NOT A COACH LET SEE WHAT THIS ONE CAN DO
