GdS: Staggering statistic shows extent of Milan’s injury problems since July

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s injury problems for the first couple of seasons under Stefano Pioli have continued into the current campaign, with a remarkable amount of absences racked up.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the issue of having too many injury problems has persisted for the Rossoneri and the numbers since 1 July this year are staggering.

In that five month stretch, Milan have racked up over 700 days of absence. Almost 180 are from Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has not been available at any point since his surgery, almost 120 from are from Alessandro Florenzi, and a hundred for Mike Maignan.

To the aforementioned trio the physical problems that Simon Kjaer, Divock Origi, Davide Calabria, Junior Messias, Alexis Saelemaekers, Ante Rebic and Theo Hernandez must be added. It is certainly something that must be reflected on, given Milan seem to be hit harder than their rivals when it comes to having injury crises.
