Key stats and compilation of Theo’s impressive centre-back display for Milan

By Isak Möller -

Theo Hernandez was one of the best players for AC Milan in their 3-1 win against Frosinone, despite playing at centre-back. He showed an impressive willingness from the first minute and earned the praise of Stefano Pioli afterwards.

Due to the injuries of Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Marco Pellegrino and Malick Thiaw, Pioli was forced to field Theo Hernandez at centre-back. It was something that the left-back suggested himself, as revealed by the manager, and one can understand why in hindsight.

In our player ratings, he was given a 7/10 for what was an impressive performance. As you can see in the tweet below, it didn’t just look good but the stats also back up that conclusion. 5/6 duels won and 3 interceptions, for example, are good numbers.

CompsACM have also made a compilation of Hernandez’s performance and it’s indeed a delight to watch the video. Especially since the Frenchman has been somewhat criticised for not playing to the best of his standards in recent weeks. Yesterday, he absolutely played at the highest level.

It remains to be seen if he can follow this up with another good display against Atalanta. Kjaer should be back for that game, so perhaps the former Real Madrid man can play in his usual position on the left.

  1. In my opinion, against Atalanta he should be careful when going up so high on the pitch, he loses the ball and it’s a dangerous counter.
