Watch: Pioli surprises disability football team with visit to lead training session

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli surprised Vharese players with a visit to one of their training sessions which he took charge of.

Vharese play in the Paralympic and Experimental Football Division (DCPS) of the FIGC, and a few minutes before the start of what looked like a regular training session, Pioli surprised everyone by entering the pitch to direct it.

“Representing Milan on these occasions makes me even more proud. I have seen guys who were enthusiastic but above all attentive and eager to do well, respecting instructions and roles,” Pioli said.

“When you have the opportunity to spend time in these contexts, it happens that you observe those around you precisely to reinforce certain beliefs: dreams cannot be cordoned off and any obstacle can be overcome with passion.”

Apd Vharese Onlus are an amateur multi-sports association based in Varese that promotes sports as an opportunity to meet and socialise, but also to promote a different culture on disability. Its athletes compete regionally and nationally in not only soccer, but also basketball, skiing, swimming, bowling, rowing, and boxing.
