Striker shortage for Napoli ahead of Milan clash as duo trains separately

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Napoli will take on each other in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday. For the Partenopei, it’s a race against the clock to recover two of their strikers.

Victor Osimhen is recovering from a muscle strain and while he was initially expected to definitely miss the first leg, he seems to have a chance still. As stated on Napoli’s official website today, he continued his individual work at the training ground today.

The Nigerian’s replacement, Giovanni Simeone, came off the bench against Lecce last night but was forced to leave the pitch with an injury. On the website, it says he will be evaluated in the next few days and he will thus likely miss at least the first leg.

In short, it’s a race against the clock especially for Osimhen who is such an important player for Napoli. In case he can’t make it back, then Giacomo Raspadori will be the man starting up front.
