Suma ‘still waiting’ on the ‘true AC Milan’ in Champions League this season

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to get their revenge on Chelsea earlier this week as the English side won 2-0 at San Siro. The Rossoneri will have to turn the page and summon the energy for the final two games.

The loss on Tuesday didn’t come without controversy as Fikayo Tomori was sent off after 18 minutes. In addition, Chelsea were awarded a penalty for the foul and Milan didn’t really stand a chance after that.

Two games remain in the group stage and Milan need to win both of them to advance to the knockout phase, by the looks of it. Four points could be enough as well, depending on the outcome of a few other games.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, MilanTV pundit Mauro Suma wrote about Milan’s adventure in the Champions League this season. He stated that we are yet to see the true Rossoneri, who will have to come up big in the remaining games.

“In the Champions League, things are a bit different. We played more or less our game against Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb. In London, against a team from another planet on the face of the wage bill, we played poorly. At San Siro, the match was suspended after 18 minutes and we will talk about it again at Maksimir stadium.

“However, if I loved last season’s AC Milan at Anfield, the exciting half-hour 11v11 against Atletico in Milan, in the second half of San Siro against Porto and the win away at Atletico, I still await moments of the true AC Milan in the Champions League this season.

“It’s for this reason that I’m waiting for Maksimir and Milan-Salzburg at San Siro, not so much for the obsession with the result but to see Milan play in the Champions League too, to have the confirmation that we are ourselves also in Europe,” he wrote.
