With Mike Maignan heading away from AC Milan as each day passes, the club are looking at replacements actively.
Whilst Maignan will not leave until the summer, if things continue as they currently are, there still needs to be an early scouting process for a replacement. After all, he could be gone as early as January, with clubs able to negotiate pre-contracts.

So, if Milan have a target in mind, they can lay foundations before others, and move before they are left without a first-choice ‘keeper.

This is really something that needs to be looked at – we are not the only – or even anywhere the worst offender when it comes to shipping out youth products for “pure profit”.
It shouldn’t make more economic sense to sell youth products and then sign expensive replacements, but absurdly it does.
There needs to be some kind of incentive – a tax break or something, for playing players that have been at the club from before there 16th birthday – coupled with a cap on the amount of academy players you can have from 14-16 (to stop rich clubs hoarding talent).
Only then will this trend stop.
A similar rule they have in Germany where the clubs have to have certain amount of German players in the squad. Every country/league should have something like that. But we all know it’s not going to happen.
