Sweden head coach Janne Andersson has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed tonight’s game due to feeling some physical discomfort.
The decision by Andersson to call Ibrahimovic up in the first place raised some eyebrows given that the striker is now 41 years of age and has only made one start for Milan since spending nine months out due to undergoing a knee operation.
A report from Expressen yesterday confirmed that Zatan was doing individual training due to feeling some discomfort, and subsequently there were question marks about whether he will play any part in today’s game.
Andersson spoke about the condition of Ibrahimovic before the game against Azerbaijan to Sport Bladet and confirmed that he has been left out because he has an injury issue.
“He has a problem that forces him to miss the match. It’s very sad for him and for us. This is the situation unfortunately,” he said (via MilanNews).
The extent of the issue remains to be discovered by Milan, who lost Pierre Kalulu due to injury too after he picked up a calf problem while with France U21s.
Time to buy Zlatans swedish colleague Jesper Karlsson. He is the future of Swedish football.
yes!!!
Here we go again.. Physical problem after international break
Game over for Ibra. I wonder if it’s the same knee. Glad we didn’t use a CL list spot on him. Time to close the curtain on his glittering career.
Very unlikely it’s the knee. He’s been training those muscles intensively for 9 months so the ACL is “well protected” due to the muscles being in excellent shape.
bb this is exactly why Ibra is going to 100% injure himself
instead of stretching and making sure the muscles are at their natural range of motion, we think its all about strengthening the muscle
but if your car’s steering is all jammed and rusted, no increase in the mass of the car will make it turn better
your joints are the same, if you dont stretch enough, you will get injured as certain as taxes and death
ever wonder why people are bent in question mark shapes? they dont stretch at all
pro athletes/footballers have it way worse often, because they typically dont stretch much more than the average athlete/person, but perform WAY more sport, so their body collapses 30-40 years range, after they have been hyper trained in one sport (football) since they were 6:
it takes 20-30 years, but the wear and tear gets to you eventually.
the bigger and stronger you are, the worst it is usually because you made your body so tight, without stretching to compensate for all the work
choose to stretch, or choose to retire/surgery/pain that never gets fixed/depression
You think Zlatan don’t stretch? His feet still raises way above his head. Is it possible if he doesn’t stretch? Have you seen his workout sessions from start to finish?
