Sweden head coach Janne Andersson has confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed tonight’s game due to feeling some physical discomfort.
The decision by Andersson to call Ibrahimovic up in the first place raised some eyebrows given that the striker is now 41 years of age and has only made one start for Milan since spending nine months out due to undergoing a knee operation.
A report from Expressen yesterday confirmed that Zatan was doing individual training due to feeling some discomfort, and subsequently there were question marks about whether he will play any part in today’s game.
Andersson spoke about the condition of Ibrahimovic before the game against Azerbaijan to Sport Bladet and confirmed that he has been left out because he has an injury issue.
“He has a problem that forces him to miss the match. It’s very sad for him and for us. This is the situation unfortunately,” he said (via MilanNews).
The extent of the issue remains to be discovered by Milan, who lost Pierre Kalulu due to injury too after he picked up a calf problem while with France U21s.
