AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare has had a busy first two weeks, and he went on a scouting mission over the weekend too.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report this morning, Tare is certainly not standing still in his mission to give Massimiliano Allegri a more competitive squad, one that they both expect to fight for the Scudetto.

Tare in Tirana
On Saturday evening, the new Milan director was in Tirana to watch Albania-Serbia, a World Cup qualifier. He did not return to his homeland for a pleasure trip or to support his national team. On the contrary, the visit was purely for work reasons.
In fact, the Rossoneri players Strahinja Pavlovic and Luka Jovic were on the pitch, but also several players that the sporting director wanted to observe up close, with two strikers mentioned: Dusan Vlahovic and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Both could move teams this summer, but are they concrete targets for Milan? We must proceed slowly because the window is long, but the Serbian duo – as well as Mateo Retegui – have been talked about as ideas.
Mitrovic and Vlahovic would require big investments, in transfer fees and in salaries. At the moment, Milan are not even in the study phase of a possible negotiation for a striker because the idea is to assess Santiago Gimenez.
However, a centre-forward may become a necessity because Tammy Abraham will return to Roma after the loan and Luka Jovic’s deal expires (with an option). Francesco Camarda will likely be sent out on loan to gain experience.

He is not good enough for the first team. Relaying on Camarda should Gimenez be out is far too risky.

Why not just sign Jovic to an actual deal. He’s literally been the only consistent striker since Giroud left. Why does he keep getting shafted for bigger names who don’t perform. He’s the perfect guy to have in a front 2, so just give him a deal. He’s been happy to not be a starter as well, never complained, and doesn’t cost much. What’s so difficult here. We need depth, how do we expect to go thru a season with just Gimenez? Did nobody see how arsenal ended up last season? Worthless management
Consistent? He is a 3rd striker to go in the last 10 minutes if you’re chasing a goal. Good for that but nothing more. Conceicao gave him some starts and we saw how it went…
Oh yes he was absolutely terrible. Like scoring a brace against Inter and providing solid linkup play. Yes, he laid some eggs, but so did literally every Milan player under Conceicao.

No, we saw how it went when Juventus signed Caio Jorge from under our noses and that turned out to be a blessing. There aren’t many good players coming out of South America, and besides we have been signing them, then they get sent back because of not being good enough, have you been living under a rock? We’ve signed quite a few of them over the last 5 seasons. You definitely aren’t a Rossonero.
I’m sure Tare fell asleep. That game was approached by both sides with a “don’t lose” mentality instead of trying to win so there would be no political fallout.
