AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has spoken about a number of topics connected to the club, including individuals like Rafael Leao and Luka Modric.
Tare was hired by Milan almost one year ago alongside head coach Massimiliano Allegri to lead the club into a new era. Having not had a proper sporting director before, and with the Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao experiments having failed, the club thought it was right to go to ‘safer’ hands.

The summer window that Milan had after his arrival was a mixed bag in truth. Certain players like Modric and Adrien Rabiot have shone, while others like Christopher Nkunku and Pervis Estupinan have played far from their best football in a red and black shirt.
Tare on Allegri, Leao, Modric and more
After a preview emerged on Thursday night, the full interview as part of the ‘Giorgia’s Secret’ series on DAZN has now been revealed. MilanNews have relayed what the director had to say.
There is talk you have a feisty relationship with Zlatan Ibrahimovic…
“It’s not true that he’s used to doing everything himself. If you know him, he’s a very sensitive person. I have a good relationship with him, we say things to each other’s faces, sometimes even harshly, but we both come from the Balkans, so we both accept that things are said that way too.”
What are the differences between Milan and Lazio?
“It’s a substantial change. With the name Milan, it’s easier to convince players than when I was at Lazio, due to the club’s history and also the financial resources.”
Was Milan always destiny for you?
“My Serie A debut was in a Brescia-Milan match [January 28 2001, coming on for Pirlo], my first brace came against Milan, my first child was born during a Milan-Bologna match. Let’s say there’s always been a strong bond, beyond the issue of support, which is well known by now.”
What was it like when the call from Milan came?
“I was hoping for it, then when it came true I think it was one of the best days of my life. I supported the AC Milan team of Van Basten, Gullit, Baresi, Maldini, all true champions.
“As a child, I always admired them. I try to deserve to be part of this club. To be part of this history you have to leave your mark.”
What is it like working with Allegri?
“I have a very good relationship with him. We met at the start of the season, but we didn’t have much time to get to know each other better, but after the transfer window ended, we met privately and had a few dinners together.
“He’s a very intelligent person who knows how to manage certain dressing rooms very well. What led us to choose Allegri? His history, his connection to Milan, his experience, and above all, his ability to manage an important club like the Rossoneri.”
Milan’s attack is struggling…
“We have important players. Unfortunately, seasons can be difficult. For our forwards, it was a difficult season from a physical standpoint because several of them had physical problems that prevented them from finding consistency.”
The Scudetto dream was there, then it vanished…
“It’s not just Tare who has this ambition, but the club that wants to always be competitive. Keeping the Scudetto in mind is our duty.”
What is Leao like?
“I’ll respond with Modric’s words, who said that not even Rafa knows how good he is. I met a good guy with enormous potential, but also with great expectations. His problem was perhaps finding a balance with these expectations, but his potential is beyond question.”
And Modric?
“I knew he was a Milan fan as a child, and when we met and talked about the project, I saw he had deep connections. He had other offers, but he wanted to fulfill his dream of playing for Milan.
“His arrival at the team was very important, even in terms of mentality. As for his future? He could choose with his heart. For me, he’ll stay at Milan.”
