Igli Tare and Massimiliano Allegri will soon meet with Mike Maignan to try and change his mind about a renewal, according to a report.
As of a couple of weeks ago, it seemed certain that Maignan would be going to Chelsea in time to play in the FIFA Club World Cup, then the deal fell apart as no agreement over a transfer fee was found.

One thing remained a constant as the twists and turns arrived: Allegri wanted Maignan to remain at the club for renewal talks to be started, because of how highly he rates him. Now the Frenchman will stay put, and it is claimed the the coach’s words ‘made an impression’ on him.
The bid to persuade Mike
According to this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPress), Milan want to renew Maignan’s contract – which expires in 2026 – but the player currently has no intention of extending at present.

The sporting director Tare and the new manager Allegri are expected to meet with the goalkeeper shortly to try to convince him to change his mind. However, the work of persuasion will take a long time.
Without European competitions in 2025-26, it will be hard for Milan to convince Maignan to stay around and to extend. As it stands, he could face the same fate as Gianluigi Donnarumma, the man that he ironically replaced when he left for PSG in 2021 on a free transfer.
