Ordine: Gila and ‘additional resources’ – Tare and Allegri working on summer transfer plan

Franco Ordine believes that AC Milan are working on signings ahead of the summer, but their budget may yet be boosted.

Milan currently have a squad with only 20 outfield players, after a conscious decision was made in the summer window to streamline things quite a bit, both to raise money but also to compensate for the lack of European competitions.

There are times when the squad has been pushed to the limits however, and with the Rossoneri currently on course to return to the Champions League, a big summer awaits. The feeling is that Milan need more in terms of both quality and depth, as well as experience too.

‘Additional resources’

Ordine published his weekly column for MilanNews in which he addressed Italy’s World Cup play-off defeat and also Monday’s trip to Napoli, as well as the upcoming summer window for Milan.

“I keep reading about negotiations being set up by sporting director Tare regarding the next transfer window, with a view to a likely Champions League campaign. This clearly indicates that the sporting director is working on a plan discussed with coach Allegri as well as the club,” he said.

“I’ve read about interest in Lazio defender Gila, and the assessment here is positive. I also think it’s crucial to start focusing on the role of a centre-forward, not starting from the premise that having a key player in that role requires spending between €40-60m.

“I think it’s crucial to wait until the end of the loan period to determine how much money will actually be coming in from July 1st, so as to have some additional resources.”
