AC Milan have still not yet made a decision regarding who they want as their next sporting director, but it seems to be a battle between two names.
As Sky recall, the chosen one seemed to be Fabio Paratici, but Milan’s leadership changed their plans as they got deeper in talks with the former Juventus and Spurs director, realising that his suspension limited his operability.

Now there are two candidates left: Igli Tare and Tony D’Amico. The former was at Lazio for nearly two decades and has been without a club since leaving, while the latter is one of the secret weapons of Atalanta, but is tied to a contract there until 2027.
Tare’s work
The report picks out Tare’s five best signings at Lazio. He was Claudio Lotito’s right-hand man at Lazio for 15 years, he has been a free agent since the summer of 2023. He had already been contacted before the club’s efforts focused on Paratici.
Age: 51 years old.
Career: From 2008 to 2023 he was sporting director of Lazio.
Current status: Unattached.

D’Amico’s CV
Tony D’Amico made a name for himself at Verona and then at Atalanta, helping to build the team that won the Europa League last season.
Age: 45 years old.
Career: From 2018 to 2022 director of Verona, from 2022 to now director of Atalanta.
Current status: Contract until 2027 with Atalanta.
Honours: 1x Europa League.

D’Amico is the better choice, but given his contract situation and the probability that Atalanta won’t want to let go of their coach and DS in the same summer, the fact that Atlanta is still well into their current cycle, and the fact that Redbird is unlikely to overcome the aforementioned with a buyout, it’s highly likely that it won’t be him.
1. You can bring all the right pieces in but unless theres a good coach to integrate them in nad make the team play smoothly, they won’t be useful.
2. What’s more important to know is how much deadwood have they brought in per a good transfer? Like a waste-to-winner ratio.
Under Tare Lazio have never had terrible buys more middling where as D’Amico has done incredible things since joining. A true professor of his craft.
Atalanta’s scouting sector is unparalleled. One of the best in the world. Those targets were all likely observed, identified and fancied before D’Amico arrived. He came into a smooth, well oiled machine. He didn’t have to rebuild or restructure anything. Follow the scouting reports in place, sign off on their recommendations, easy work done and dusted. That won’t be the case when he comes here.
I trust Tare more to put everything in place and bring his people in with him. No one is leaving Atalanta’s scouting sector to come here. It is a nightmare and shiyit show here. I am sure Tare can bring in his key figures to assist with the tasks at hand. We are a step up from Lazio, not Atalanta.

Atalanta saw something good in CDK without having worked with the player before while we could not do anything meaningful with the player when he was wearing our jersey. Then you look at most of the attacking players who came after CDK’s departure and you will always have a good laugh. Starting from the very top of Cardinale to the bottom of the players who have failed, we always like to think we will do a better job on the pitch. Have we been doing a good job for the club this whole time though? Or have we just been pleasing our egos?
