As the Ardon Jashari saga drags on, Igli Tare is being forced to consult his file with alternative targets that AC Milan could pursue.

Amid talk of a Monday ultimatum, a report from PianetaMilan confirms that Tare is thinking about alternative names. The profile of player Milan have identified in Jashari is clear: the Rossoneri are looking for a left-footed midfielder who can combine dynamism and quality in both phases.

They want someone who isn’t above protecting his own half but can also make his presence felt, powerfully, close to the opponent’s penalty area. In short, a Tijjani Reijnders-type mould who is more defensively competent and fits more seamlessly into the three-man midfield Allegri has in mind.

The other names

Tare is considering three ‘gambles’. One is Adrián Bernabé at Parma, who have dropped to a deeper role after starting as a playmaker and already knows Serie A well. Maurits Kjærgaard of RB Salzburg is someone the technical director Geoffrey Moncada likes.

Maurits Kjaergaard

Then there is Christos Mouzakitis of Olympiacos who has been linked multiple times in recent weeks. He would be the most ‘raw’ of all in terms of experience, but perhaps also the most expensive (at least €30m) because of his potential.

Tare also has Kenneth Taylor of Ajax circled in red at the top of his list. He would ‘likely be the perfect fit for the midfield Allegri has in mind’, with a cost of €28-30m. Matt O’Riley of Brighton and Luka Sučić of Real Sociedad are other names that are in the file, but would cost a bit more.

    1. For a player that we dont really need

      Modric-Ricci-Fofana are the starters

Have you ever tried thinking or do you think because a player cost 40m he’ll instantly start and be world class?

          1. You were that fooking clown who critisized the board when they signed Tijjani ffs lol
            Now switching sides (as usual)?

          2. I was always high on Reijnders, so you got the wrong guy. But, you’re the one who insisted RedBird wasn’t going to sell anyone and they shipped Reijnders to the first buyer possible.

Please explain to everyone what Fofana was done or shown that makes you rate him so high? He was awful against the plumbers and Amazon drivers that play for Perth.

      1. So Fofana is now awful, he started very well on a role (DM) he didnt really knew well and ran out of steem. He played so many games without a break, you cant really blame the guy. Also, For those who say, we dont need another mid. here are a couple of thoughts
        1. Are you really asking 40yr old Modric to play each game?
        2. Let’s say we rotate or one of them gets injured. We have, RLC (another good but glass player). Perhaps the outcasted (Bennie, or Adli ? — probably not) . And then there is Musah.
Not getting another mid is putting us in the position we were last year, forced to play musah a lot and the kid just isnt ready. (not sure if he will ever be, but still young). So, we can always say, RLC, Modric, Ricci, Fofana can do it all. but it’s pending on a 40yr old and a guy made of glass .

      2. Ricci and Modric are subs for one another. They play the same deep lying role. Its Fofana and RLC so far with either one of them if you’ve been paying attention.

  1. A lot of good names here and as a Dane I wouldn’t oppose either Kjærsgaard or O’Riley but I would also consider Frendrup as he is already acquainted with Serie A and in the last couple of years has had some of the best stats in the league in regard of most tackles won and most balls won and in fact was the best in that department in the 2023-24 season almost eclipsing nr 2 with around 40%. Besides of the Danes I would love if we signed Bernabe.

    1. Milan doesn’t need a player of the Frendrup profile anymore. They need a player that brings something more than just running, pushing, kicking, tackling. They need skilled midfielder, with vision, creativity, passing. Ricci, Fofana, Bondo, Musah bring to the game the same Frendrup does.

      1. That’s fair enough Z but I do nevertheless like the player and wouldn’t mind him in Milan. He can play both cdm and cm so I believe he could be useful for us as I do believe and hope that Musah will soon gone and Bondo most likely will be loaned out.

          1. You’re pushing this kid on every post. LOL!!! Milan don’t make a habit of letting 17yo’s break into first team.

      2. That’s a very fair point however so far none of the Fofana, Bondo, Musah or Loftus-Cheek have shown to be actually good at kicking, tackling, pushing,… and Ricci’s stats seem mediocre in that department.
But again we have priorities, we can’t get an entire squad each summer, so I guess a creative midfielder is more of a priority.

  2. I’d rather put the money elsewhere, between Ricci, Modric, Fofana, RLC, Musah and Bennacer we should be able to make it until January. Put the funds to a RB or another LB or CF instead.

    1. For god sake, why not giving them the missing 1,5 million? If we choose a new player, this soap opera will start again and again with this trivial bargaing we do!

      1. Playing cheap. Wasting tons of money for players they did not need.

Having the future # 10 of 🇨🇭plus a super talented defensive Player at 22 years old. Crazy.

        Cannot believe this‼️‼️

  3. We should have signed Petar Sucic instead Inter, he was a bargain, but Luka would be great too. +he fits great with Ricci.

  4. Bank the money.

Scout hard for the 26-27 season.

    Return to UCL.

Have a large budget to get the key starter we need and the depth to the squad. Win the Scudetto and go deep in the UCL.

This is how LFC is able to spend like they are this window.

If we are playing a 3 man defense the. The squad is ready for top 4.

It’s a project, not a series of one year attempts at glory.

    1. With the current midfield we have, we won’t be returning the CL. Fofana is in really poor form.

I think we need to find another midfielder.

  5. Guerra who rejected an extension with Valencia to come to Milan is suddenly off the table? We can get him for 25-30 mil

  6. I have read on a couple of Juve related sites that Weston McKennie is an option. Before the anti Americans scream and yell, take a second and think because he is a good fit. He has played every position other than GK for Juve, he knows Serie A, he is tireless, AND maybe most importantly he is a really creative passer. Something that other than Modric and the two wingers , Milan is in short supply. I did not want Tyler Adams…but McKennie is a fit. The numbers being thrown about are 15-20 because his contract is up.

    1. That may be the worst idea I’ve seen in here, and im from the USA buddy… absolutely not lol. He is a waste of time and money

  7. I will prefer Kenneth Taylor or Maurits Kjærgaard.

Christos Mouzakitisis also good but still very young , no room for him in the first team or else futuro

  8. None of these profiles make any sense. Bernabe is more of an attacking midfielder and we are not playing 4231. So for a 433 formation only Javi Guerra makes sense to me if we don’t get Jashari.

  9. I don’t care anymore just this transfer window is just a mess I think it’s cuz Tare is from Lazio which isn’t the Milan size so he don’t know how to spend so much money or it’s just Gerry

  10. It was obvious that Brugge won’t lower their demand.
The problem is that this bum board waited till August. They should have signed Xhaka for 15-18 million and move on to RB and CF positions.
Nobody will sign expensive quality players in August.
Let’s wait for Charity day (last day of Mercato) and prepare for random signings and pretend like we got bargain deals

    1. I guess it has been a Milan thing and not just this management though.

I remember us chasing Tevez all winter and loosing out on him despite him being our star target.

Actually, the Jashari case particularly reminds me of the Kesuki Honda pursuit, we chased him all through the summer refusing to shift grounds on the €2.5m difference in player valuation. We still lost out on him.
When he eventually arrived, he was nothing spectacular after all.

      1. Well,
Honda was good but not as a winger.
Mihajlovic put him as a winger which wasn’t his position sadly.

After Milan he just went to Mexico and then disappeared. Probably broken lol.

  11. Have to sell Bondo or RLC, but really need to sell both.

Prepare Comotto to become regular starter.
If got Jashari, with near 40m its good

    Estupi is dropping like crazy,

    1. RLC has probably showed enough for Allegri to keep him.
I just hope he doesn’t get injured and scores a lot of goals for us this season.

  12. why do we even need another midfielder if we are gonna play 3 at the back? 3-4-3 requires 2 in the middle and 3-5-2 will mean Puli will play AM with Leao +ST up front so only 2 spots for Ricci Modric Fofana RLC and Bondo to rotate around
