AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has reiterated his confidence that Luka Modric will stay, while also stressing the importance of a top four finish.
Milan come into their penultimate home game of the season in dire need of a win. They have amassed just two victories in their last seven league games and have only scored once in their last five games, ramping up the pressure on Massimiliano Allegri to find solutions.

Away from the field meanwhile, protests are once again ongoing – as they were one year ago – regarding the ambition and competence of the management and ownership. The Curva Sud took aim at several key figures in a statement, while CEO Giorgio Furlani has a petition against him.
Tare spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off at San Siro and answered questions on a number of topics. His words are via MilanNews.
What can you tell us about Modric’s future? And that of the midfield in general with Jashari and Ricci?
“His absence on the pitch is significant for the team, but his presence is huge: every day, from morning to night, he’s with the team.
“Even now in the dressing room, he tries to encourage them. He’s an important figure for this team. I’m confident that Luka will continue his journey with Milan next season as well.”
What do you think of the fans protesting?
“The fans are right to express their thoughts. The important thing is that we’re all united, especially at this time. It’s crucial to complete this journey we began this season. We must try not to repeat the mistakes we made in the past.
“A performance like the one against Sassuolo leaves you with a lot of disappointment. We’re coming off a very tough and emotional week. We’re all convinced that the team will deliver a strong response tonight.”
How much does qualifying for the Champions League impact the future of the Allegri-Tare project?
“It’s crucial, but not for me. For the entire environment: the club, the fans, the history of this club. We’ve had a great season, in the last six weeks we’ve stalled and slowed down, but we have our destiny in our hands.
“We need a significant response. Participation in the Champions League is crucial for this club: not only financially but also sportingly.”

We are playing like a 90s team. Allegri is a prehistoric coach. Send him home. Find a real modern coach we are not a serie A title contender we are not a champion league team with him. Throw him out
Sack Allegri and save the season. The only way.
I mean sack him NOW. Right after this match. Or already during it.

If this management is happy with this kind of football, then that says everything. With all due respect to Massimiliano Allegri, when you watch teams like Como play, you realise how far AC Milan are from giving the supporters the football they deserve.
We need a complete rebuild — from management with Furlani, to Allegri, and across the defence, midfield, and attack. The only players who really performed this season were Rabiot, Modric, Mike, Bartesaghi, Pavlovic, and Saelemaekers. The rest need to be replaced.
I’d wish we played like a late 1980ies or early 1990ies AC Milan, pretty sure we would be still able to compete with the very best of the game.
Understand that the game was tougher and the players was tougher due to fair play nowadays. Players could basically get tackled from behind and sometimes not even getting carded.
Players nowadays are a bunch of lazy overpaid crybabies who just got their period. Tacticaly they also knew how to defend which the teams nowadays doesnt seem to grasp at the same level.
