Tare convinced Milan have ‘done a significant job’ amid 2025-26 improvements

Ahead of AC Milan’s early game against Cremonese, the sporting director Igli Tare shared his thoughts on the season so far and what can be done in the summer.

Following Inter’s win against Genoa last night, Milan are now 13 points behind their city rivals in the pursuit of the Scudetto. In other words, without a win today, the Rossoneri can say goodbye to the dream – if that hasn’t happened already, that is.

Speaking to DAZN just a few minutes ago, as transcribed by MilanNews, Tare shared his thoughts on the season so far and what has been achieved. Especially since some reports have suggested that his position at the club isn’t certain.

How has your first year been in this new project?

“Looking at last year’s results, our goal was to provide stability, to build a team capable of achieving important goals like the Champions League. In this regard, we believe we have done a significant job, both from the club and the staff, because we mustn’t forget that 12 new players have arrived.

“It’s a new journey, and it’s understandable that along the way, we will lose a few points between draws and Sunday’s defeat. But we all remain focused and, above all, aware that we must achieve our goal and look to the future with great enthusiasm.”

Are you afraid of a psychological backlash after the end of your Scudetto dream?

“We have seen it all in football. A defeat can’t take away the confidence we have had for six consecutive months. We also saw how that defeat came about, without going back to arguing about it. Today we have the chance to play a great game, to win, to approach the derby week with enthusiasm.”

How can you plan for next season without the certainty of being in the Champions League? What kind of team are you imagining?

“It’s achieved by working as a team, sharing ideas, but above all by knowing that next season will be important, different, with more games. Milan must be a competitive team next season too.”

Yesterday Allegri said that every now and then, when speaking, the management members don’t always agree with each other…

“Otherwise, something’s not right. Ideas have to be different, even if they’re not the same. In the end, the common good matters, only Milan.”

Regardless of Tare’s future, it’s clear that Milan have improved massively when compared to last season. The return to the Champions League will be a massive boost and hopefully, that can also result in some significant mercato movement this summer.
