AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare refused to be drawn on the Moise Kean speculation, also commenting on Luka Modric’s future.
While the main objective remains getting a top four finish – especially after Como beat Roma to compact things even more – there is also the feeling that tonight’s game at the Stadio Olimpico represents a big chance for Milan.
Inter drawing 1-1 against Atalanta on Saturday at San Siro means that the Rossoneri would cut the gap to five points with a victory in the capital. Considering that one week ago it was 10 points, the narrative would certainly change, even though three points will be very hard to obtain tonight.
Tare spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off at the Olimpico, which of course is his former stomping ground having spent many years at Lazio. He answered questions on a number of topics, and his words were relayed by MilanNews.
Could Kean be the future striker?
“There’s no point in talking about these things now. It’s crucial for us to win this game tonight. It means a lot for the standings and to build on last Sunday’s victory. Let’s focus on these things, and then when the transfer window comes around, there’ll be plenty to talk about.”
After Inter’s draw, do you have the feeling that the Scudetto race can really get back on track tonight?
“Honestly, no. We have to do what we’re supposed to do. We have to try to win, the gap is long. But by winning tonight, we’ll get one step closer. We have to think game by game because the season is full of surprises.”
Lazio fans will be back in the stands. Is that a positive or negative thing?
“We talked about it during the week. For us, it’s better to play in a full stadium, it’s nice to experience football with all the excitement it brings. Lazio is going through a difficult transition period, but they’re still a team to fear.
“They’re still a team that can beat anyone. We know exactly what awaits us tonight, but we’re aware of it and we want to win.”
Have you already discussed the future with Modric? Is there a timeline for a possible renewal?
“One thing’s for sure: Luka loves Milan, he loves Milan a lot, and Milan loves Luka too. So I think it will be, as we said at the start of the season, an easy decision for him. The contract is there, if he wants, and we have an option year.
“But he has to make a decision with complete peace of mind. If there’s one thing I know well, it’s that he loves playing for this team.”

can someone remind me why gerry fired maldini again?
Because Jerry is stupid. All the big clubs in the world hire stars to motivate their teams and transfer their experiences. Milan had the Crème de la Crème, and what do we do with him, We fire him.
