AC Milan have decided to accelerate for Igli Tare, but only after finding the road blocked to the man they really wanted.
According to Alfredo Pedulla of Sportitalia (via MilanPress), Tare has managed to overcome a phase of uncertainty and after waiting for word from Milan, the next talks he has with them could lead to the signing of the contracts.
Tare: Not Milan’s first choice
If Tare had been the club’s first choice, the agreement would have been reached weeks ago. Today, though, he is in pole position, especially after the key thing that occurred last night. Milan tried to snatch Tony D’Amico from Atalanta, but found themselves facing a wall.
D’Amico had been heavily linked with a move to Milan over the last few weeks and it is above all the CEO Giorgio Furlani that was reported to be very keen on hiring the 45-year-old. The problem has always been the contract with Atalanta (running until 2027), and it proved to be too big a hurdle.
In an event at Gewiss Stadium for their new sponsor New Balance, Atalanta’s CEO Percassi was asked about the future of D’Amico. He made it clear that the director has a significant role at the club for next season.
“Will he [D’Amico] also wear New Balance next season? Yes, he’s a fundamental director for us and will have the enormous task of creating a competitive Atalanta. I have great faith in him, he’s happy to stay. Now we are focused on this end of the season, let’s keep working,” he stated.
Thus, Milan were forced to turn back to Tare and will now head into a new era with him. On the coach, if D’Amico had arrived, the Maurizio Sarri hypothesis was more than concrete and a a two-year contract with an option for another year was ready for him.
With Tare the dynamics change, given the complex relationship he had with Sarri during his time at Lazio. Vincenzo Italiano ‘s name remains in Milan’s orbit, but the situation is fluid. Bologna have put a renewal proposal on the table and, according to CEO Fenucci, the coach has shown openness.

Kind of suiting as RedBird wasn’t/isn’t our first choice for owners and Scaroni for president, Furlani as CEO etc.
And no, we did not choose RedBird but they squeezed their 4ss in here.
i hate that now (and for a little while now) every time a team plays well against us, we are suddenly linked with their players/coaches etc. Do we not have a process of scouting and research? seems to me very reactive. One good game against us and Italiano is already linked as our coach. Same thing happen to our players, one bad game and then they are useless and could be sold. No plan, no continuity, no structure. All very reactive.
