Theo Hernandez is leaving AC Milan after six seasons, and that means the leadership are on the hunt for a new starting left-back.
According to Calciomercato.com, Theo will officially join Al-Hilal in the coming days for a €25m base fee plus €5m in bonuses, earning €20m net per season in salary. He was a driving force in the Scudetto win of 2021-22 and the Champions League semi-final run the season after.

So, while his last season at the club did not go well, the Rossoneri must replace him well. Igli Tare and his team are already searching for a replacement and are evaluating several options.
Brown available cheap
Among the opportunities Milan are considering is Archie Brown, an English full-back born in 2002. According to the source, Gent want just €8m for the player, which would make him a low-cost gamble.
However, it must be noted that Brown is the third option on Tare shortlist at present, behind Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez and a ‘top secret name’. It will take a few more days to get a more definitive picture.
It stacks up with what Matteo Moretto revealed a few days ago, putting forward the name of the ex-Derby man but suggesting Milan have a more ambitious target in mind. He then spoke last night of a verbal offer being made.
“The profile that Milan is looking for for that type of position, and for that type of role, is certainly a young name, a name that can potentially become a top player, and today we can reveal a name that is on a short list of names, so there are at least 3,” Moretto said.
“There is one who would be the favourite, which we will try to tell you about in the next few days, and then there is another who has a chance of actually becoming the replacement for Theo Hernandez, and that is Archie Brown.”

BTW Atalanta in Europe as of the last 10 years is a more successful team than Milan. Finished ahead of Milan, and Retegui had a better season than Reijnders.
Age of players also matter. Same Atalanta team sold Hojlund for more money just 2 years ago after he scored only a 3rd of the goals Retegui scored just because he was 6 years younger.

No way of thinking on building a successful team that will win trophies when the path is buy cheap and sell for a profit later.

The options they should be looking then are: Calafiori (loan + buy option); Lucas Piton (Vasco da Gama); Piquerez (Palmeiras); Tagliafico (as back up, and he’s free now, out of contract with Lyon); Grimaldo (Leverkusen). As young options this Brown kid seems interesting, the problem is if the club continues with the idea of a player going up in value to then look to sell. Another young interesting options: David Wolfe (AZ Alkmaar); Tom Rothe (Union Berlin); Lukas Ullrich (Monchengladbach); Nathaniel Brown (Frankfurt); Merlin (Marseille)
If we have a top team then they’ll hold on to what we’ve got. Heck, we failed to sell players so often in recent years.
But at the moment, we need to find ways to improve the team. And one of those is raising funds and investing them wisely. Now, the club doesn’t have a great recent records of getting those decisions right, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t right.
