CM: Tatarusanu becomes a ‘surprise protagonist’ – he is unbeaten in over 350 minutes

By Oliver Fisher -

Keeping three clean sheets in a row is impossible without the contribution of the goalkeeper, and Ciprian Tatarusanu seems to have silenced doubters for now.

That is according to Calciomercato.com, who write how Milan have now won three games in a row by a one-goal margin and without conceding, the latest being against Monza last night after the midweek victory against Spurs in the Champions League.

The ‘surprise protagonist’ has become the much-criticised Tatarusanu, who has not had much confidence from the fans this season given he has had some performances that were certainly not up to par.

However, yesterday’s 1-0 win means that Tatarusanu has now not conceded for 353 minutes across all competitions. His save at the beginning of the game on Ciurria was fundamental, the one towards the end on Petagna sealed the result.

If before Mike Maignan’s absence was being felt in a huge way, the increased defensive solidity and Tatarusanu’s upturn in form has certainly provided a dose of medicine for now.
