Tavolieri: Porto reject €23m bid from Inter for striker who wants Milan move

By Oliver Fisher -

Mehdi Taremi has got a move to AC Milan at the top of his list of preferences but will not force an exit from Porto, according to one journalist.

According to the latest from Sacha Tavolieri, Porto have rejected a €23m first offer from Inter for Taremi. Sources expect that any proposal less than €30m will be rejected by the Portuguese club, despite the fact his deal expires in 2024.

There is at the moment no contact between Tottenham Hotspur and Port. Even with Harry Kane leaving for Bayern Munich, the Iranian striker is not the first choice for the London club and there are other names on their list.

He adds that Taremi has never asked Porto to leave and he is actually happy at his current club. If he were to leave then the 31-year-old has one priority above all, which is to join Milan rather than their city rivals Inter.

  1. Yeah no. There is no guarantee he would even adapt to the Serie A. And that price is prohibitive. And doesn’t he just have a year left lol?

Scratch that one. Way too much money

    1. This is an operation that can happen in the last day of the transfer market. I’d expect that by then Porto would be happy even with 20 million + bonuses, unless they are confident they’ll get a renewal with him once transfer market ends.

That said, I don’t see anything special in him, and it seems like a big gamble bringing him now to Italy for a lot of money but the fact that even at this age, he’s requested by multiple teams makes me pause. He might be a Diego Milito type of player or has a very good agent..

  2. Who’s writing this kind of story? It doesn’t make any sense. His price tag is too high; Milan hasn’t made any offer, and you’re saying they rejected an offer from Inter because the player prefers Milan, if he’s going to leave.

    1. Read it again. They didnt say he rejected because he only wants Milan. Porto rejected it because they want 30 minimum. If Milan offered 23 it would be rejected too.

  3. Why not go in for Duvan Zapata? He’s being valued at 3m and at 32 years old is not different from Taremi in that regard. He would provide depth, experience and a proven Serie A scoring record. Give him a 3-year contract and get through this season with Giroud, Zapata and Okafor. Then next summer Giroud is gone, we spend most of our transfer budget on a top striker and Zapata continues as a backup/depth option behind the new striker and Okafor.

    1. Duvan was good two or three years ago. His last season was really poor. Unfortunately I think he is already well pass his best.

    2. 💯 agree with Zapata – I have been saying this for a while. Although older (32) and price tag is 10-15M (not 3M lol) he’s still worth it IMO. Yes he’s a band-aid for a few years but we def need someone and he knows the league and is still (if healthy) a huge physical presence that would pair well with Leao and Giroud. Get this done

      1. 3m does sound rather low, but I recall reading somewhere that this is what was quoted to Roma, although maybe that was a loan fee. But if they ARE willing to loan him, then maybe that would make even more sense for us.

    3. Roma offer 3m euro loan with option to buy 7m euro . So total operation 10m euro not 3m euro . Atalanta want to get rid zapata so they will accept loan with buy option . I think better wait till last week transfer market for duvan , we must get rid some deadwood in bench too like ballo toure, origi, cdk, adili, saladmaker

  4. This.Is.Hilarious.

Inter went from Lukaku, to Balogun links, to Taremi, to Arnautovic? Seems like they are trying to cheap out up front to sign another player elsewhere?
