Whilst an agreement has been reached regarding the stadium, AC Milan and Inter are a long way away from owning the stadium, let alone playing in it.
Ultimately, there is a seven-year roadmap before Milan and Inter are ‘done’ with the San Siro project. This means a demolition of the current stadium, with the new stadium being in operation completely. Not a small task by any means.

Further challenges
Before we get there, though, Gazzetta dello Sport states that there are several things to overcome, with things to complete and avoid.
Firstly, it starts with getting the deed completed, which has a deadline of November 10. Approval from the banks is needed, but the most significant financing should only arrive next year, when the design plans have been confirmed.
Following that, there is a period for appeals. In October and November, there will be a 60-day period during which complaints can be made. So far, there seems to be many expected, from the Si Meazza Committee to the Gruppo Verde San Siro Association.
Elsewhere, the San Siro Referendum Committee is likely to ask for another referendum, given that their first attempt in 2021 was deemed inadmissible by the Board of Guarantors of the City of Milan. Additionally, the case from the Prosecutor’s Office remains in the background, given there has been no news.
