Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are on a list of directors that Manchester United are considering hiring as the club look to go in a new direction, a report claims.
According to The Telegraph, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will soon acquire 25% of the club from the Glazers and he will take advice from Sir Alex Ferguson with a ‘radical overhaul’ planned.
Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman is being considered for a role but he is not the only figure Ratcliffe’s list. Former Tottenham Hotspur recruitment chief Paul Mitchell has been linked, while Atalanta’s Lee Congerton and Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta are also under consideration.
Maldini and Massara are part of the list too as per the report, with Jean-Claude Blanc – who may replace Richard Arnold as chief executive when Ratcliffe’s acquisition of shares is complete – aiming to make an ambitious appointment.
Maldini and Massara were sacked by Milan less than 48 hours after the final game of last season after failing to agree a vision for the future with owner Gerry Cardinale. Maldini was linked with a job in Saudi Arabia, but that went quiet and perhaps this is why.
Arnautovic to Man Utd incoming.
Since united used to be my 2 fav club i’d like to see that
My Man Utd friends are dreading the arrival of Origi already, they’re up in arms
Nooo, but some guys here are so sure he is soo bad.
Aside of joking, it’s a great choice for ManU, they are missing badly some character, personality. And for Maldini it would be a good opportunity to work with serious budget. He has proven that he is able to wake up sleeping giants.
As much as some people here hate to admit, he has been overall super successful and none can take this from him. Good to see that this is acknowledged.
Sure. United has money, they can work properly there. Not with peanuts and 20M limits per player.
Really? You like United
Cool – hope United fans are ready to see Rashford and Fernandes leave on freebies.
I am sure they won’t care as long as they win the league.
@Bo: why would they attempt for Origi when they will get insane transfer budget?
liked? sure. but that was saf era
