Kyle Walker has asked to leave Manchester City this month and according to a report, AC Milan are the frontrunners in the race. Supposedly, the Rossoneri are looking to close a deal as early as next week.

The right-back position has been heavily discussed among Milan fans this season, with summer signing Emerson Royal failing to perform at a high level. Davide Calabria has played very little, but was named the MOTM in tonight’s 1-1 draw against Cagliari.

It was reported earlier today that Milan had attempted to sign Alberto Costa from Vitória SC, suggesting that they consider the right-back position a priority. Now, The Telegraph is reporting that Milan are ‘eager’ to bring in Kyle Walker from Manchester City as the veteran has asked to leave.

The Rossoneri are confident of getting the deal over the line, according to the report, and the goal is to conclude the deal next week. The Manchester side are yet to receive an offer for now, but by the looks of it, it will arrive very soon.

At the age of 34, one can certainly question the potential signing but perhaps the Englishman has enough quality to play another one and a half seasons in the red and black shirt.

    1. We are lacking leaders in our team. He is a leader for sure. Enough Mancada-like talents and money ball Cardinale-like. Every year same procedure. Look at Napoli, they took Conte. I know a trouble prone coach, but they are fighting for Scudetto. And we are building a team for the future… over and over again…and time is passing by.

        1. I mean the strategy as such. Every year we are trying to create a young team for the future with promising prospects and a new master chef. And yes, I would take Conte for one season to get us finally the second star ⭐

    1. You must not post if you lack information on the subject. Kyle? A reject? Okay, even if he’s a reject, he’s a Man City reject. He’s better and stronger than all the RBs put together in Milan currently and he’s also better than the ones Milan might buy in the future with that budget.

        1. What a low minded comment. You think football players have nothing else in life other than football? He is going thru some personal problems with family, courts etc.

        1. He was 33.
He played 5 more seasons for Milan.
If Milan can get 2 good seasons out of Walker it’s a win.
He is a very good RB. Much better than what Milan currently has or whatever is available on the market at Milan prices.
He isn’t a bench player or a reject. He has been starting for ManCity, not some championship team.

  1. So we’re throwing away money on a guy with 1 foot in retirement who can’t even keep track of his mark anymore… he and tomori will get along perfectly…

    1. Can’t keep track of his mark anymore?
The man was checking Vini (best player in the world) just 6 months ago but apparently can’t track his mark.
      People just say anything

  2. For me it’s about bringing in a leader. He has won the prem a trillion times and a UCL. He may not be a leader to all of them but he will definitely inspire some with his experience

  3. If true I’m in favour of this deal for a couple of reasons: 1) proven experience and leadership which is great for the dressing room 2) still a good player and one of the fastest players in the EPL even at 34. 3) proper RB much better than Emerson & Calabria. 4) able to operate in back 3.

Downside, high wages + not a long term solution but the pros outweigh the risks.

  4. We do not need him, he is 34, we need more Italian players, Terraciano is already in the team, and he has been improving game by game, the last time he played as a RB, he was very ok, we do not need a washed up 34 year old….

    1. With all due respect you can’t put terraciano in the same sentence as walker. His won more trophies than all of our players combined. He captained Manc for a few years. He brings discipline and winning mentality to the dressing room ie Leao will learn from him so will our defenders. I actually think this is a very smart deal. Much better than when we were linked with Hummels because Walker still has a few good years left in him.

    2. Walker is past his prime and is slower than he used to be, but he’s still one of the best right backs in the world. Terraciano is a dud. He makes mistakes every time he plays.

  5. I mean it’s a no brainer… just get him ASAP, but hey, someone said “RedBird is allergic to players close to 30”.

I hope they aren’t allergic to players above 30.

  6. I can’t say I’m against him, with both Florenzi and Calabria being pushed out by the management, with the current right flank entrusted to Emerson and with Jimenez still too green and who might perhaps be brought back by Real Madrid, I do think that Walker can be useful to us even in his current age.
The man can attack and he can defend, he is fast but also solid, can play as a right back but also as a center back and career wise he is way better than any of the above mentioned players. He is also an experienced winner with multiple EPL and 1 UCL.
I’d sell Emerson IMMEDIATELY and get Walker, although that is probably not feasible.
We might be able to sell Bennacer and Loftus-Cheek this winter and try and get him as well as a midfielder.

    1. Very well said. its obvious we lost 15m + have to pay him 3.5m pa for next 3.5 years. Calabria is better than him and that speaks volumes we didn’t sign an upgrade rather signed a dud!

I think everyone is too hard on Bennacer. He is injury prone but a quality player. He is still at a good age and not unless we spend big we won’t find anyone better. RLC is an odd one. His versatile but that’s his problem because he doesn’t excel at any position. If EPL suiter is found we should ship him back.

As you said Walker can play RB or CB. Yes his now in decline but still a quality player who can add experience and quality. Not comparing him to Maldini but he was starter for us until 40 when he retired. If one looks after himself there’s no reason why he can’t play for another 2-3 years. I also think Conceicao will change formations from 442 to maybe 352 or 343. Walkers versatility helps in all those formations.

  7. Once AGAIN – This all comes down to NOT spending $$$ to get a PROPER RB

Read Redbird Lovers, I said “PROPER”. We spent 15M on the USELESS Emerson. Everyone knew he was trash – EXCEPT our wonderful management team. But they foolishly went ahead and signed him anyways and now he will do what most of the other Fulani/Ibra/Moncada transfer window signings will do – sit the BENCH or be loaned out. And ppl complain about Origi??? LOLOLOLO. Just Combine Chukuweze, and Emerson’s salaries and transfer fees and tell he what you get 🤡.

Now Walker WAS a great player. But At 34? Not so much. Is he capable of spot starting and having a few great games. yes. Is he an upgrade over Calabria and Emerson? YES. Does he bring experience? Yes. Is he worthy of a 2.5 year deal at 34 with injury history? Probably not. Is he the long term solution? No.

At this stage in his career he should be a mentor and quality Backup and not a starter playing every 3 days. So IF that is the plan – stop gap for this year then we sign a RB in summer or buy out Jimenez and play him at RB (preferred) – then this is fine – as we are going to lose Calabria and need a backup w experience. A Jimenez/Walker combo would be good.

Unfortunately, Old players, free transfers (if they don’t ask for large salaries or high agent commissions lol) and players on expiring deals. That is our market parameters. So with those limits I guess Walker is the best we can do. Gerry has to save that $$$$$ for the INVESTORS after all.

But just shows the LACK of AMBITION Redbird have for us. But that’s not surprising as Gerry himself told us so.

Anyone have Walter Birsa’s number??? We should see what his availability is like 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    1. So we sell a young promising RB in Kalulu to a rival, we sign Royal for 15 million, a signing that the entire fan base was against, we are letting another home grown talent and capitan leave on a Bosman and now in Jan 2025 we are chasing a RB who is 30+. This folks is Exhibit 1A of poor squad planning and clueless management. Thank you RedBird, we are on course for a Financial Scudetto repeat.
