Landmark occasion on the calendar for AC Milan Women: they will play Juventus at San Siro

By Steph Insixiengmay -

The AC Milan Women will play Juventus at the San Siro on October 5th. The game will take place at 20:45 CEST.

The official announcement was made earlier today by the FIGC, and due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the match will be played behind closed doors. Therefore, no fans will be allowed to attend the game.

However, one shouldn’t downplay the importance of the match being played at the San Siro. It costs a lot of money to sanitise a stadium that large and to make it match ready, and the fact that Milan are willing to undertake the cost shows how much they’re willing to invest in their women’s team.

It will also pave the way for the Rossonere to play future matches at the stadium, including a possible Derby della Madonnina between the Milan and Inter women.

Milan and Juventus are currently in a three way tie for first place, along with Fiorentina. Milan are currently ahead of the Bianconere on goal difference, as they are in second, while Fiorentina are in first place.

Juventus have looked quite vulnerable in their last two outings in the league, including conceding three goals against Empoli and only managing to score two goals against lowly San Marino.

Compare that to the Rossonere, who manged to score five goals against the team from the Republic.

Milan will be looking to take advantage of a Juventus side that has yet to hit their stride come October.

A match preview and a guide as to how Milan can beat the Bianconere will be posted shortly before their weekday encounter.

Serie A Femminile is currently on hiatus due to the international break, and there are currently six Milan players on international duty.

And when they come back, they can revel in the fact that they’ll be making history by being the first woman’s team to play at La Scala del Calcio.
