Matteo Moretto has revealed some of he background on Adrien Rabiot’s arrival at AC Milan, including the figures of the deal.
In what was a formula not too uncommon when it comes to the signings that Milan make, Rabiot was talked about as a transfer target earlier in the summer and then things went quiet for a couple of months, before reigniting again.

What ultimately lit the touch paper was an argument Rabiot had in training with Jon Rowe that caused Marseille to officially transfer list the pair of them. While looking for a way out the possibility of reuniting with Massimiliano Allegri arose, and he jumped at it.
The Cremonese spark
Moretto spoke on a video on his YouTube channel and – as part of a round-up about Milan that included information on a swap deal that was talked about with Juventus – he talked about Rabiot’s arrival.
“Rabiot was the absolute star of the Rossoneri’s final stretch of the summer transfer window. After the defeat against Cremonese, Milan decided to step up and go all-in on Rabiot,” he said.
“Contacts were increasingly constant until the deal was finalised. It was a major signing that increases the quality and physicality of Milan’s midfield. Allegri strongly desired Rabiot.
“I want to highlight all the numbers of this deal: the two clubs closed the deal for €7m fixed plus €2.5m in bonuses. Rabiot signed a three-year plus one-year contract worth €3.5, net per season.”

Yes, he spent 7 years at PSG and then 5 years at Juventus. Definition of a mercenary. It is not healthy to hate someone that much that you have to make up stuff.
He did his whole formation with PSG and then played for OM. That’s capital sin in France. Played for Juventus, now Milan. He left every club with big drama because he only cares about himself. Good for him but he’s not a team player and is far from the bandiera profile that we could enjoy at Milan, even not long ago with Tonali or Calabria. I don’t care much about him, like most French people I just wish we had someone else to play as a starter with France because he’s mostly invisible when playing international games.
He was actually pretty good the year they won the World Cup.

Thats a great deal for Milan.
Puts a massive question mark on the spend of 60M on two other midfielders, but happy to see him here – always been a quality player. Four years is a long contract, but should definitely see some short-term benefits to the team, especially after his season last year showed he has some new tricks.
