GdS: ‘The great freeze’ – Pulisic’s Milan renewal is ‘further away’ than ever

In recent months, Christian Pulisic’s future at AC Milan has been speculated over constantly. It appears that things aren’t going to change any time soon, either.

During the past few seasons, Pulisic has made himself known as the team’s Mr. Reliable. However, in 2026, he has been anything but. Indeed, the American is struggling more than he has ever known in Milano.

Injuries occur and they have certainly had an effect. But now questions are emerging about what the future holds. It is beyond being a drought at this stage and serious doubts are in place regarding his scoring.

Pulisic’s future in the balance

The poor form has come at the worst time, really. His contract renewal has been distant for almost a year now, and this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) states that the renewal is ‘now far away’.

Indeed, the paper has even referred to the situation as ‘the great freeze’. Put simply, he is not scoring and talking about extending his stay at the club are a distant memory. His deal is in place until 2027, with the club having the option of an extra year.

Yet, everything is silent and his performances (or lack thereof) have not helped thaw an icy situation. His position at the club is certainly not safe.

  1. Great freeze? LOL. They weren’t negotiating before and they aren’t negotiating now either. Nothing has changed. Pulisic said it’s not the right time for it. Simple. They’ll talk once the season ends.

    1. actually worst time to cash in. you cash in WHEN they are at the top. From a business perspective we cashed in on Tonali, Tiji . Saying time to cash in when he’s at his worst is asking for a discount. The total opposite of cashing in.

      1. That’s what happened at Chelsea and ACM reaped the benefit. He had managers who didn’t believe in him- do you remember Tuchel playing Timo Werner or buying ‘where is he now’ Sterling.

  2. He sees that he really doesn’t fit at ACM with Allegri. Really, this is no surprise and if you are surprised you didn’t watch how Juve played the last time he was there. It’s just a mix that doesn’t work. I don’t expect Allegri to change how he sets up a team or who Pulisic is as a player. Time to move on. It’s just business.

  3. I just watched a video on YouTube that proports to show all Pulisic’s goal contributions from 2025. It seemed that over half were what hockey fans call “one timers”. The first touch redirects the ball into the goal. Several of those were off rebounds. So, if no one else on the team is generating any offense, Christian is going to suffer too. Since the beginning of 2026, none of Milan’s forwards are getting many quality shots on goal, so there have been precious few rebounds for Pulisic to bang in. There have also been very few times when a teammate has set Pulisic up for a good scoring chance. It must be acknowledged that in 2026, on the few occasions where he has been set up he either miss the goal or shot straight into the goal keeper. So it is not entirely his teammates fault, but without others starting to generate quality chances, I don’t see Pulisic pulling out of his slump.

  4. It’s possible some of these slumping players are paralyzed with fear over getting injured before the WC in just over a month. I think that has caused many sleepless nights and a serious dip in form. Hopefully it all works out for the best.
