‘Football is unpredictable’ – Theo apologises to Milan teammates and fans

Theo Hernandez has posted for the first time since last night’s red card, and his message is to AC Milan, his teammates and the fans.

Last night went exactly the way that Milan hoped it would not. Not only did the Rossoneri not progress in Europe, but the Rossoneri saw Theo Hernandez sent off, which many feel cost the side the game.

This incident could have never come at a ‘good time’ but there were certainly better times. Surrounded by rumours about his future, the Frenchman was given his marching orders which has only further fuelled speculation about the next few months.

Today, he has posted a message on his Instagram in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but whether it has worked remains to be seen.

“Football is unpredictable: it offers us great joys, but also painful moments. Today I feel immense frustration.

“I apologise to my teammates for leaving them down 10 and I apologise to the fans who always support us. But this club is a family and together we will recover. Let’s all get back up together. Forza Milan.

Words, ultimately, mean little and Theo must now prove himself on the pitch, for his own sake as well as the Diavolo’s. If he fails to do so, both will not receive what they want this summer.

    1. Theo: “i am not apologize, it’s not my fault, football is unpredictable. Diving is my habit, i am addicted to diving, i am mr diver.

Fans watching in san siro:” BOOO……. ”

Theo: “if fans unsatisfied with my current hair, i can change to new color.”

      Abdulrahman: “MADMAN!!”

  1. Milan will not get more than 40-50m for him and that is not good money for a player of Theo’s level.

Milan will also not be able to replace him with a player of his quality and level.

Therefore, Milan’s best option is to renew him and have the coach work on recovering Theo to his best next season. He’s still France starting left back.

Renew him and get back to his best next season. He’s only 27yrs old.

    1. No. If he keeps playing the way he has, his value will drop to 30M or less. Sell him while we have the market to. A new LB can be bought at less than 30M, there are plenty out there.
Unless he can prove in the next three months that he can play even 80% of what he was capable of in the Scudetto winning season or before, then sell in the Summer.

    2. Theo will still have clubs who would want him on the cheap this summer. His contract will expire in 2026 and he will probably be sold for a lot less then 50m in summer or leave for free a year later.

    3. Agreed.
Theo has also been tired since Euros and it has shown on the pitch.
Renew and get a rested Theo next season in better form.

  2. Very weak statement!

    Football is unpredictable, bla bla.
It was very predictable that you would get carded for diving (aka CHEATING).
    Disgusting unsportsmanlike behaviour.

He needs to be sent to rehab and unlearn his terrible habbits

A real apology would also be nice.

….I’m sorry, I was stupid, I let everyone down, It was my fault, I will work to improve myself and earn the respect I have lost…. etc – something genuine

    1. Yep. But I don’t remember him or Leao apologizing publicly about the water break incident. Neither did Tammy or Tomori over the PK debacle. So this isn’t surprising.

    2. So true. That is a pathetic apology. Focussed more on guilting supporters not to boo/abandon him.

Sorry Theo. Renew or not renew. I don’t care any more. But he must be sold in the summer. At 27 he will be harder to sell if he does renew.
The window to sell him is now. If he did renew. No clubs are going to offer big $ as he get closer to 30.

  3. Will coaches please start telling players that with VAR do not take unnecessary chances. And what about ethics, it is so easy these days to fake and feign and hope to get away with silly antics when so many has been called out thru VAR. Yes VAR do get it wrong sometimes but that does not mean you should take a chance anyway and hope for the best. Err on the side of caution. Same mindless nonsense happened against Zagreb….or is Milan falling into a state of chaos with players having stopped to respect the jersey.

  4. AC MILAN IS BIGGER THAN ANY PLAYER… THIS GUY SHOULD LEAVE ALREADY. THIS IS MILAN! THIS TEAM NEEDS TO BE “REBUILT” FOR HOW LONG DO WE FANS HAVE TO T*LERATE THIS SH*TTY BEH*VIOR….. FOR THOSE OF US THAT SUPPORTS LEAO AND THEO, I BELIEVE U STILL REMEMBER HOW BALOTELLI AND CASSANO TURNED OUT!! LET’S KEEP BELIEVING HE HASN’T SHOWN HIS FULL POTENTIALS TILL HE TURNS 35… I’M TIRED. I’VE NEVER BEEN THIS FR*STRAT*D BY THIS TEAM. THIS IS NOT MILAN! THIS IS NOT MILAN!!

      1. @Boulden, I fear watching our matches. There is no confidence in this team. I receive ins*lts from friends and colleagues cos of this team.

  5. Please leave the club….
If it was only yesterday. It is already drama all season. A pitty after what he brought is the first years

  6. Theo have all right to make mistakes .

Not just Theo, but Maignan, leao and Tomori. Those are our best players since scudetto season so they have credit not just For this season but for next also .

We can take a look at the past and we can see how difficult is to win scudetto or even catch number 4 position. I want to see him, Leao, and Maignan next year. Tomori also if something different in transfer market happen, like, if they bring 2 times better defender. If they can’t bring 2 tines better defender than Tomori – then keep Tomori.

    Forza Milan

  7. Dense response. Insulting really.

Football is predictable when it comes to Theo: idiotic unforced yellows and lapses in maturity and concentration. Those were two completely unforced and unnecessary yellows. You have no one to blame but yourself because you have a track record of decisions like this.

  8. It is time to bench him for a while.
He has lost his mind lately..he thought that he is indispensable all the time..
.terracciano, bartesaghi or someone else deserves chance

  9. He’s a great player but he has his own agenda apart from the team. selfish energy. I wish he’d get his head fixed and stay. Probably impossible. now he’s blaming the unpredictable “football gods”

  10. He’s a great player but he has his own agenda apart from the team. selfish energy. I wish he’d get his head fixed and stay. Probably impossible. now he’s blaming the unpredictable “football gods”

  11. Not defending Theo. I watched the replay and it appeared he made a good tackle, clipped the ball and then went to ground intentionally to avoid kicking the opposing player. Unfortunately anytime he goes to the turf they think he is diving as he has known to do so in the past. You reap what you sow.

  12. Football is unpredictable ha?
YOU are the one who is unpredictable!!
Arrogant, lack of attitude, lazy, how on the earth you became like this?
Your simulation was the cherry on the cake 🍰
Brainless, don’t you think that kids are watching you?
This is what you teach them?
    All of you underperform.
    Apologies, family …bla,bla
    but you bring just disgrace
    You… crossed the line.

  13. For someone like you for sure it is unpredictable. For someone who is consistant humble and grounded it is quite predictable.

Did you watch Real Madrid game last night?

  14. The way I see it, very quickly a lot of people forgot how important Theo was in the past years. For more than 3 seasons, the person plays almost every match, because he does not have an adequate replacement. I agree he has a lot of character flaws, and his season this year has been terrible, but putting all the blame on him isn’t fair at all. I wish he would extend his contract and show us the real Theo again.

  15. Exactly, what Eidam said. So many “flighty fans” here, and many who probably did not play the game… AC Milan is a team. And as a team you support your teammates thru good and bad. Theo will rise from the ashes like a Phoenix!

    forza Milan!
