AC Milan are ready to stand firm with Theo Hernandez, who in turn is looking to force a move away from the club.
According to what is being reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan have no issues using a hard stance when it comes to Theo. without a transfer on the club’s terms, the French full-back ‘could end up out of the squad’.
The future of the former Real Madrid player is the talk of the town at Milan, where the outgoing manoeuvres continue frenetically. The sale of Tijjani Reijnders to Manchester City is official, while the exit of Yunus Musah to Napoli is close to being concluded.
Theo and Milan in stand-off
Behind the refusal of a move to the Saudi Pro League is Theo’s desire to return to Atletico Madrid, with whom he quickly reached an economic agreement on his salary.

However, an agreement between the clubs is far from being reached, because the first proposal from Los Colchoneros to include the former Udinese player Nahuel Molina as a counterpart was rejected, as were the €17m offered in pure cash.
Milan, for their part, are clear that they will not give any discounts despite the defender only having one year left on his contract. They want at least close to the amount offered by Al-Hilal, which was €30m.
Is is a clear message to the player: in order to leave, an offer of this amount will have to arrive, otherwise he could stay until the contract expires. It is a situation that is anything but rosy, and Theo could end up ‘separated at home’, left out of the squad and Allegri’s plans.
We’re sure good at managing players aren’t we…
Maldini & massara fired for let player go for free, but both of them build scudetto team.
Maybe furlani will get fired if maignan or theo go for free next season. If furlani not get fired, then it means mr cardinale play double standard for his staff.
Finally Milan management acts like they have a backbone.
Theo should display a little humility and resurrect his career. He’s not bigger than AC Milan.
This decision would benefit no one
Ya it will set an example for once and maybe bring an end to Milan players always running out their contracts and leaving for free.
A simple question: why, under the same management, Pulisic and Reijnders perform well, why Theo can not ? Ok, the management has its own problems, but he receives millons. Even if he can earn much more else where, but when you receives millions, and play for a club like Milan, you must give your best.
I just hope he is not an ungrateful and disrespectful person.
I’m with you on this one. The middle finger approach by players and agents will continue unabated if clubs don’t flex their muscles on these matters. The offers for both Mike and Theo are ridiculous at best and insulting at worst. Also not distracting from management’s poor handling of these renewable cases…blame cuts both ways.
Because he has been out of form.
Tired after the Euros but still played 4000 minutes.
Signed a contract extension with us even though he could’ve got better salary elsewhere.
He needs rest. Clearly out of form.
There are plenty of footballers earning millions that don’t perform well.
They sacked Maldini.
They start to negotiate and then stopped. Now they want him to move to Saudi?
I would feel betrayed even though I hadn’t performed well.
We know what difference Theo can do for us when in form but he is not playing in a well structured team and does not have any defensive help from his winger and is not playing with good defensive players.
But if we can sell him for a reasonably good price then go for it.
Leaving for free is not a player or a disciplinary issue. It concerns an incompetent management who don’t have a sense for timing of transfers, renewals, and or sales.
Yes, Like when Maldini let Calhanoglu, Kessie and Donnarumma leave for free. That was the beginning of the downfall.
That’s right, but they won’t mention that Milan lost more than 100 million on those three players in two years. Now they are crying for Theo, and today I watched the video of the match in Florence and cried that he was even in the team. With such a player, and let’s not forget the game in Parma and Rome before that, only a crazy club would extend his contract. He has been sabotaging the team from which he receives his salary for the entire season, and he started this while Pioli was the coach. And who cares that Milan is wasting money on Theo? Is AC Milan privately owned? It is. So I don’t care if they make or lose money. I’m interested in them building a competitive team, and I don’t really care how they get the money.
Maldini was restricted from offering 100k a year more to Hakan by Furliani and co.
They reduced his wage budget. They let him go and increased it yet still failed to renew our best players so we know the calls were made on top of him. They also failed to keep our best players by selling our best performers, those with the most potential, CDK, who were on the low wages, ie Tonali Tijjani, they failed to reinvest the funds adequately. So inherently M and M had their hands tied and on average per dollar spent put together a winning team, this management failed to keep it together by undervaluing player as they offered lowball wages.
Chrisp, you’re talking nonsense, boy. If Furlani didn’t allow him to raise his salary, then why didn’t he sell them when he could get money for them.
This is true, i have also heard this. FUrlani and co. reduced Maldini budget for wages/transfers etc which is why Hakan left only for 500k more. After Maldini was sacked they upped their budget and still failed…
It will benefit Milan if the we get a reasonable transfer fee from him.
Since the players have the right to demand and force their way out, the club must remind them that the players are contractually obligated their club, and must adopt better strategies when wanting out.
The club also reserves the right to hold out till they are economically satisfied with offers received.
Exactly this, if he stays we have to get the best of him whilst he’ll be super motivated
Z thnk you for your speach
Why to let go the Best lb in the world?
We have Nuno Mendes? Cuz you cant be talking about lazy ass theo
This is 21/22
Best LB in the world?? I guess if you don’t take defense into account when talking about a defender…
All anyone cares about these days is offense. I remember when defenders were judged on their defense. Crazy, I know.
Because he want’s to leave.
An intelligent management will play this hard game with own players with two years in advance from expiration date of contract. You extend the contract ? Fine. You don’t ? You will leave now in good condition for both of us or you will not playing a single minute two years from now…
That’s the game and I will play it if this club was mine. Don’t cross your mind the ideea you can f*** with me , trick me with delaying signing the new contract and can go as a free agent. This is not gonna happen whiteout consequences…
If the management let him force his exit by leaving for less they ask for, every other player will start doing the same. It doesn’t matter we like the management or not, the club is bigger than anyone. They never want to make discount for Milan when they want their player, why would Milan accept whatever they want to pay for their player?
We need 2o-25ml out of him if we don’t get that money we will freeze him out from our squad and for sure he will miss world cup
Milan management are slave to money! This is just mere media stunt! That’s not true, Cardinale ( a k.a Moneyball) don’t play with his money..besides players just like every employer have the right to choose where they will play! So therefore, Theo is on the right path to reject anywhere working condition will negatively impact his career ambition, goals and health.. if the club wants to show they don’t need the money, then they should let theo stay and run down his contract and he will leave as a free agents while still maintaining his spot at the le blue setup for next year world cup…let’s see who will loose?
He will be excluded from the squad. How will he be able to maintain his starting spot for France? And what makes you think he will give his best after all this tension? You really think he will do that for the same salary? Stop saying he is the best LB in the world because we all agree 100% with that, this fact is irrelevant. The relevant fact is he does not want to contribute to the club anymore. What good does having the best LB do when he does not want to play?
You’re just a fool with a slave mentality, a worker, an employee all your life.
Have you ever owned a business? Just pretend for once and reason from the owner’s or management’s perspectives, instead of always protesting.
Milan owns Theo’s economic right and have the right to reject offers not economically satisfactory.
They are going down a slippery slope freezing him out. That means other players will not want to come here because the club behave in an underhanded manner when they shortchange on wages, they shortchange on the team they build in terms of the quality of players they acquire, they shortchange the player on his future beyond the club as well.
He has the right to chose his next destination and refuse a bad one in Saudi Arabia.
He has the right to refuse a bad contract offer. He played at a wage that was much less than his market value for the entirety of his time with us.
Hence the club won’t pay fair market wages, they won’t receive fair market for his sale on his last year obviously because he is worth nothing come January. A player worth 4 million euros over 4 or 5 years is worth less than 30 million euros on the last year of the deal. 15 million euros is a fair offer from Atletico based on Milan’s wage valuation and the remaining term on the contract, it is quite inflated actually. The club has his value set at 4 million this season.
Take it or leave it. End of story.
He can also terminate his contract on sporting just cause if he can show the club told him he would not play at least 10% of all the games this coming season. They will also be prosecuted for this behaviour. It is unlawful to coherce a player to accept any offers that they wish to turn down. That is a serious offence.
Milan is not forcing Theo to accept an offer that he doesn’t want to accept, they just want an offer that satisfies their demans for the player. Milan couldn’t care less what team Theo goes to as long as they get the money they ask for him.
He can go to Atletico as long as Atletico pays what Milan asks.
100%
MNra, You negotiate to make all parties happy when both are mutually satisfied and leverage is equal on both sides. Theo has the long end of the stick as does Mike.
Atletico made a fair offer based on the circumstances, he is valued at 4 million euros a year according to Milan, has a year left, 15 million is more than sufficient based on their own proposal to the player. A player worth 30 million euros on his last summer would be worth 80 to 90 million euros with more term. Tijjani left for 67 and earns 8.5 over 5 years. So Theo’s wage demands are in line with the fee Milan are requesting yet they are not offering with his contract negotiations, so that mutually satisfying approach applies here as well. They shortchange players, they will be left coming up short as they did with Hakan, Kessie, Donnaruma etc.
The club didn’t get Theo a fair contract, played him to the point they grinded him thin to the bone without offering him any rest. Then you blame him for a down year as a result of the club failing to have a decent backup behind him, when they were paying him 4 million less than any other club could have paid him, which is enough for a quality backup. They got and will get what they gave. Less than the bare minimum
What are you talking about 🤣🤣. Well, Milan already lost Donnaruma, Chalhanoglu and Kessie when their value was over 100 million. It won’t fail even if Theo leaves like that. Now it is up to the club whether they will accept that Theo and Atlético are blackmailing them with low offers using the situation, or whether they will leave him and bring in a new left back who will force. And where does it say that a player must have 10 percent of games? So if a player is out of form you have to let him play 10 games in a season??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He’s not just playing bad last season. He has been playing since the 2022 World Cup. terrible. It is literally unrecognizable. I agree that the club had to sell him in the summer of 2023. and bring back Kerkez.
Ibra you are uninformed, go read about sporting just cause. A team has to let a player perform a minimum 10% of all competitive matches, over a season or that player has the right to rescind his contract without penalties. Telling him at the beginning of a season he won’t play of he stays is cohersion. It is illegal. They lost players you mentioned by waiting to the end of the players contracts, after the season’s end, without making a fair wage offer as they are still doing now. That is solely on upper management failing to recognize the market value of their assets. If they want to sell at a price point they are asking, the player has to have years left on his contract, to obtain that, they have to offer a salary in line with the achievements in the previous years. In a weak team, where our midfield was decimated, with no strikers to deliver to, Theo did very well. He was the most marked player with Leao. See Pulisic and Tijjani’s stats, they opened space for them by drawing coverage. Sport’s management 101. It cost more to replace than retain your best assets. So they had to have a deal by midseason wrapped up or this would always unfold as it is.
Do you know how many players there are who have been fined and they have not been told not to play because they have been fined. So who is crazy to tell him that? 🤣🤣🤣. You sit on the bench and get paid. These are journalistic rants about punishment, although I would do the same if I was blackmailed like Donnaruma, Raiola and PSG in the summer of 2020. Are you talking about a fair salary? Well, he from January 2023. he doesn’t even deserve the one he’s getting, but I agree that it’s not his fault, but the club’s for not selling him.
“The club didn’t get Theo a fair contract, played him to the point they grinded him thin to the bone without offering him any rest. ”
LOL. The miles people are willing to go for “protecting” and making excuses for Theo. 😀 😀 😀
All the players want to play. Every match. If you’re been excluded from the starting 11 you’re unhappy. That’s the reality.
How is it that Giroud, a 40-year-old who was also playing in the France national gathering similar minutes had no issues with fatigue and NEVER had motivational issues?
“A team has to let a player perform a minimum 10% of all competitive matches, over a season or that player has the right to rescind his contract without penalties.”
Yeah, you read those real life stories each week about this happening, eh? 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
“In a weak team, where our midfield was decimated, with no strikers to deliver to, Theo did very well. ”
And with that comment alone you lost ANY credibility. Saying Theo did well is like saying Li is the most successful owner of AC Milan history.
How can one terminate a contract when it just got expired.
At the end of the season, Theo would not have a contract with milan for him to terminate.
Let him go. He pretends to be smart and gloats over the fact that Theo will go to Atlético for a little money. So he is not a Milan fan.
Exactly! 😀 😀 😀
Milan has, also, the right to sell him wherever they want. If Theo does not want to go to Arabia, fair play, but if Milan does not want pennies from Atletico, it is also fair play. That is why you negotiate, to make all parties happy.
I would LOVE to see Theo in the stands his final year. At the end of the day, if Milan receives low offers, the club less little or nothing. OTOH Theo, with the WC next year, cannot have the luxury of not playing a entire season… in the end he will end choosing where he wants to go in 2026, but which big club would want a troublemaker who, in turn, will demand top money? Milan is doing the right thing here, as well with Maignan…. both have an horrible season and want to earn like top players? Jeez lol
They refuse Atletico’s offer then he plays his last year as his contract stipulates. If they tell him he won’t, he takes them to court and we get our backside handed to us. It is illegal to coherce the player. If he refuses to leave, they can’t afford another player at his current wages anyway so they are stuck having to play him, they lose for nothing coming next summer. If they can pay another player 3 or 4 million while he is still here, then they can afford to pay him 7 to 8 while he is still here and ask for the transfer fee they want because he will have the term on the contract that allows them to request that.
You’re such a foolish boy holding firmly to a perspective without wanting to learn.
CAS does not hear such cases, they cannot and will not order any club to field a player.
I believe you’re preparing for your FIFA Agent examination and you must have been reading the RSTP, but don’t confuse yourself.
The 10% is not based on mere verbal allegation. It must be proven, with evidence at the end of the season, and must be filled within 15 days of the last match of the season and must be attached with a written notice of termination to the club.
But this rule does not apply when a player has practically run out of contract, it is meant for players with existing contracts.
Stop trying too hard and looking native.
By the way, I’m a FIFA Licensed Football Agent.
Hahaha, fifa licensed football agent. More like a child trafficker
With bad reputation, no stars player want to come to milan in future.
This is good for cardinale milan. Without star player want to come, cardinale milan don’t need expensive transfer fee in future. Cardinale milan can focus on cheap players in future.
Going to Saudi could risk ending his career at high level. I would not go, stay one year for training. Milan doesn’t have a good LB to sub him so far.
You See, that’s how this club is threatening to his players.
( Don’t forget he IS the TOP score defender in club’s ENTIRE history! ) Is that how you treat such a player as a club ??? it says a TON!
This makes no sense…
From Theos perspective and Mike’s….it makes sense someone like DDeschamps, a typical fr-arrogant-troll, juventino, demanding from them that they plan in European competition to held their position in France. This is idiotc… if anything with better rest and not too many games this is season where thy can be on high level all games…Gain look at napoli(also a case why no reason to blow up whole team)
Deschamps is a complete 1d1ot
ONE. HUNDRED. PERCENT.
This is dumb, he just had a child, he had some goofy moments. Theo is goofy, hes not bad.
Dont freeze him out.
Never let management into the dressing room.
The sanctity of the dressing room.has been defiled by none players e.g. ibra
Some of yall are desperate to suck this guy off after displaying the professionalism of a toaster. The club want a reasonable fee for him, how is this news to you idiots? If he wants to force his way out to a specific team, they need to pay up, otherwise they can kick rocks. If he’s so desperate to play he should’ve tried a little this season. Now he can either take what he’s dealt, or end up frozen out for his toxic behavior and laziness, and lose his spot at the world cup. This is reality, kids. Not career mode
WELL SAID IAN !
Do you play with your money yourself?
Nobody says the player cannot choose where he wants to play, but at the same time the right transfer fee have to be paid by the club he wants to play for. When you’re free it’s up to you and your agent, when you’re still under contract, the club has a say on how much money they want to let you go where you want
It’s simple
A lot of people lose their common sense because they hate the management, therefore nothing the management has done is being bashed. They never tell Theo he can’t leave. He can decide to go wherever he wants, it’s his plain right, but the right amount should received in order to go otherwise you stay until your contract runs out.
Milan is unrealistic if it expects a club outside the Gulf to offer 30M for Theo. I agree that 15M is a bit too low, but at least 20M is reasonable. That said, should we lose a player for free over a 5M difference (while also still paying his 4M salary)? I dunno.
I don’t know if some of us think that management are stupid or they are happy wasting and losing money.
Is it that, for the purpose of making money from sales the management should tolerate indiscipline behavior?
How on earth can you rush in to renewal talk when a player is declining in performance or is prone to injuries?
Wasn’t it obvious that Theo was declined in his performance and behaving wrongly that cost Milan in pitch? Even to Mike, his injury issue was another stumble which I believe the management considered.
Just like leao, although he isn’t 100% consistent, but his growth was one of the factors for his renewal.
I will like Theo to learn manners. He is not bigger than the club.
Thw comment section is a warzone between Milan Fans and Theo Fans LOL
Some dumb* fans here think Theo not accepting Saudi offer is rude and Milan forcing him out of squad is adequate 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You all should be banned away from Milan along with this Management if this article is true
This comment section become war zone for theo fans vs club fans. I dont like eliiot & RV too but ACM lost kerkez because prioritizing theo, now kerkez worth more money than theo. ACM also on good position because if they exclude theo in squad, he will miss WC on 2026. Well unless theo dont care about WC and just stay 1 year in ACM , then nothing club can do about that. Let hope ATM increase offer to 20m euro cash + add on 2-3m euro and let theo get his move to ATM, no need to forcing get 30m euro
Can’t believe people supporting this nonsense move by management (irregardless of it being true or not). Some of y’all fans reflect this sh!tty piece of management perfectly! So they’re bitter Theo didn’t sign with a club that was going to offer them more money so to spite the player they want to leave him out of the first team? How distasteful can one get (and yes that applies to what they’re doing to Origi too right now, regardless of how ppl may feel about his performances…btw side note …he hasn’t acted unprofessionally as far as I can recall)? They paid the player for a certain number of seasons to play football. They didn’t pay the player a certain number of seasons with a guarantee they would sell him for a fee they feel would satisfy their transfer ambitions (transfers happen, they’re not a must).
Also Why would other players want to come here if that’s what the character and motives of the management team is like? Management has sh!t the bed, they’ve laid said bed so now they need to sleep in it. Players on their final year of their contracts hold alot of power of mobility. It’s the same thing ppl were accusing of the previous management of doing…waiting too long before renewals and they’re still doing it. It’s the wage cap that Furlani has implemented which has been the main culprit of many of the issues playing the squad, most importantly player retention It has lost us key players and we have been mired in transfer merry go rounds ever since, thereby continually disrupting any semblance of a project.
Who’s going to be vested in a project like this or a management team that treats players like this? Plus one minute they’re saying you’re a key player to the project and that we don’t need to sell and next thing boom…. you’re sold.
