Theo Hernandez’s move from AC Milan to Al-Hilal can be considered all but done, pending a medical and the official signing.
At the end of June, Theo made his decision known to the management of Milan that he was open to joining the Saudi side after initially rejecting their advances. The final details of a deal have been discussed since then to finalise negotiations after the Club World Cup ended.

Over the weekend, Simone Inzaghi’s team were knocked out of the competition by Fluminense, and thus negotiations could proceed towards completion. That completion has arrived today, as per multiple sources.
Theo to Al-Hilal: Here we go!
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it is a done deal, writing on social media: “Theo Hernández to Al Hilal, here we go! Agreement now being sealed after verbal pact made two weeks ago.
“AC Milan will receive €25m transfer fee as Theo will sign his contract in the upcoming days. New left back for Simone Inzaghi.”
Sky add that after six seasons in Serie A, 262 appearances, 34 goals and 45 assists, Theo is preparing to leave Milan. The Rossoneri have reached an agreement with Al-Hilal over the transfer fee and he is now one step away from Saudi Arabia.
A basic agreement had already been reached several days ago but now the two parties have reached the final agreement. It will be a €25m operation and now all that remains is to wait for the official announcement.

No one showed up for the 25M, even when it was clear Al-Hilal will take him. I’m sure he would have preferred to stay in Europe, but there was literally no interest on the market. He had a terrible season with not only poor athletic performance, but also some attitude issues. He needs a restart and he is still in his prime years physically speaking.
He’ll go earn in a couple of years more cash than he would get until the rest of his career. Then, if he is healthy, he will come back in Europe in one of the top clubs provided he is exceptional in Saudi.

We rarely see that for any team nowadays. Theo was really bad for milan last season especially attitude wise, and nobody knew he was leaving so why would he get a good sending off? Especially someone wanting to leave.

Yep, he is top top player if he is backed up by the CBs and the defensive mids. Sadly, we had big issues in the last 2 seasons with both and I also think our opponents got too used to exploiting his flank. Good luck, Theo!

I can’t see us get any near good as Theo in the near future, yeah, he wasn’t exceptional good defensively, he did enough. Marcelo was a fun fullback to watch at Real Madrid, was he ever good defensively? No.. Trent Alexander, great offensively, but bad defensively as well. But every offensively fullbacks get covered up by a DM. The team haven’t been constructed well after we lost Kessie and Tonali
So does it matter then? Offensive fullback that’s covered by a DM, or defensive fullback that frees a midfielder from defensive duties. It kind of all adds up to the same thing, just from a different direction. People are freaking out about Theo’s lost production, but I’d rather leave DEFESENSE with DEFENDERS, and then need only one DM and allow the rest of the midfield to push up and create chances and runs from multiple directions, as opposed to just coming up the left all the time.
Speculation, like this management. Rather than strengthening the current (former) core and the system to which the core players are used to, you speculate on what the team could be and might never be. It worked very well the way it was and the left wing of Théo and Leao was hyped af not long ago. The past two years have been a complete mess as we all know and obviously many players have been impacted.
They should have built from the beginning around the core players, not alienating them with low ambitions, toxic environment and outrageous contract negotiations.

Theo improved his defending greatly and we won the league with him and got to CL semis where he was huge for us.
Sorry you only remember negative things about one of the best most exciting players we have had in recent years. FYI he also got to a world cup final with France, the most competitive squad in international football, yeah he’s terrible, LOL
The club/team has been a disaster for the last couple of seasons and that impacted everyone, including Mike
So yes perhaps with less of a mess in management and more solidity on the pitch (like a true DM) everyone would have done better.
Anyway it’s impossible to explain to some people how rare it is to have a player of Theo’s talent and how we wont have a LB like him again for another 20 years

@SJF. Yeah and if you put Leao at LB he would great scoring numbers as well. I guess it’s just old school thinking to ask your defenders to do a little defending once in a while. I guess Theo is better than Maldini because Maldini didn’t score that much as a defender.

b) Theo provided a simple solution. He was 1/3 of Milan’s attack (along with Leao and Pulisic). That’s not something that is easy to replace.
c) Speaking of replacing Milan are currently needing to replace both their RB and LB (and club captain and vice captain) and no doubt this has started a nice little earner for someone over the next 10 years. Milan already have gone through two RBs last season (Walker and Emerson) and two positions that were sorted for years have now been unsorted.
As a fan you are supposed to be loyal to the club, not to a player.

Ok kool. Tell us you don’t know football without telling us you don’t know football. So you’d rather have 4 completely new players (one way past his prime, and two others of debatable quality, potential and promise, and another definitely not a top 5 left back because we’re too cheap for that) to replace only TWO of your core/starter players who have put in the most minutes..not to mention a fifth of goal contributions from last year and the league midfield mvp. What kind of Furlani/Moncada math is that? Make that make sense. You understand what a CORE player is, right? You can’t just replace them like in FIFA and expect them to hit the ground running. It will take another year or two from those players to gel and get accustomed to one another. Tiji is finally hitting his stride and what do we do? Sell him and start over and fans like you are ok with that. Like I said …year zero but we don’t have to. Have you not learnt from the past couple of seasons that too many changing and chopping isn’t good for the team. How do you expect to win anything like that ?
And when the new midfield signings don’t work out, what happens? More new midfield signings next year….rinse and repeat?
Everyone contributed to where we finished 8th last season in very much the same way they contributed to us finishing 2nd the year prior.
Theo has basically been our only left back for 4-5 years with no viable subs,.so now we have to get one for no reason with the hope that the new player by chance strikes up good chemistry with our most impactful player (Leao). Even if he’s culpable for alot of stuff last season it doesn’t make him bad overall, or for this new season, or erase the fact that he’s been instrumental in all the other seasons. And we have no clue how those new players together are going to perform.
Tiji had one good season with the club. His first season was ok. But the fact is our midfield has been getting run over since Kessie left so maybe Tiji is not the kind of midfielder we need. If his sale allows us to buy 2 or 3 quality midfielders that are more well rounded then that is a good thing.
And again, Theo is not the LB you think he is. If he was there would have been more clubs trying to get him and wouldn’t be left with only a 25 mil offer from a Saudi Club.
Your problem is you only judge players by their offensive numbers, which would be ok if we are talking about forwards here, but we are not. We are talking about a midfielder and a defender, both of whom are weak defensively and that is a big problem with the team.
