Theo Hernandez stated that Rafael Leao will make his own decision regarding what is best for his future, and joked that Stefano Pioli must help him improve.
There continues to be an immense amount of speculation regarding Leao’s future and whether he will in fact extend his contract which is currently set to expire in June 2024. The majority of it at the moment is regarding the fine owed to Sporting CP.
Theo Hernandez spoke at the press conference on the eve of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash against Napoli along with Pioli and he was asked about comparisons between Leao and Kylian Mbappé.
“Leao and Mbappè are two great players. I’m lucky enough to play with both, it’s true that Rafa needs to improve in some aspects but that’s up to the coach (laughs). Then he’s the one who has to decide for the future,” he said.
There is no doubting that Theo and Leao have fantastic chemistry down the left flank, and both will need to be at their best across the 180 minutes if Milan are to have a chance of reaching the final four of the Champions League.
